Justin Macabre John is from the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, Great Britain. There's a clear difference between Scottish accents, Northern Irish accents and Irish accents... John has a subtle (used to be more prominent in the past) Scottish accent. And he's called Maclean, not O'Donnell :D

My thoughts exactly. His style of doing make-up is just so beautiful and all his little tips are so very useful. I have used many of them for decades, and they never loose their effectiveness. We do not need crazy Tick-Tock hacks, we need REAL teachers like Lord McLean.

I love how he actually said mascara is subjective. It's so true. So many KZfaqrs push products on us, and I've tried them and personally hated them. They forget to mention that what works for one person may not work for another. It is very much subjective!!

Your understanding of anatomy of the face combined with knowledge of colors and shapes means so much. It literally makes you the DiVinci of makeup art. I don’t understand why you’re not the face of the entire makeup industry, because what you do is exactly how it should be. No other makeup artist can top this. At least for me anyway. John McClean is an actual makeup artist that teaches you techniques. The fact that he gives suggestions for darker skin even though he is pale is what a true make up artist does. All the other “gurus” just want free stuff, trips to Puerto Rico, and to slap their name on some crappy product. You truly are a breath of fresh air.

John darling, if I may be so bold, what is your age? I ask because here in the States, I feel that most beauty You Tubers who feature such soft yet refined (and attainable) looks appear far older than yourself. I've grown entirely weary of harsh brows, shocking contouring, spider lashes, etc. Plus, the vernacular/over-the-top lack of grace on display is quite tiring. Your diction and delivery of the English language is refreshing... as refined as your visual style. Each time I view your videos, I'm left with a smile on my face... no matter the topic. With fondness from the middle of the U.S.

It’s interesting that you’re talking about people lacking class, but you’re displaying a lack of grace. You don’t have to trash someone in order to compliment another, that’s not a true compliment. It’s tacky. The wonderful thing about makeup is that there are no rules, people are free to express themselves how ever they like; which means that if the want to wear harsh brows and spider lashes, they can. He says it all the time, haven’t you been listening?

Missy Maria I took the comment to mean that they no longer wanted to use that style, which by your statement is entirely reasonable. Everyone is afforded a choice in their own style and interest, and nuttygirl is simply relieved to find a channel that suits her evolving taste. I don’t agree that their are “no rules” in makeup. They don’t market mascara as a foundation for a reason. I can agree that generally there are very few rules in makeup... but there are rules based on practicality. Certain looks are more suited to specific age groups. My mother has struggled these last few years to find looks on KZfaq that suit her aging skin and hooded eye. There is nothing wrong with pointing out that certain things look, objectively, better depending on the situation and person. Being creative is all well and good, but it doesn’t mean it suits the individual wearing the makeup better than something else might.

Do you think you could do an in-depth eyebrow tutorial of some sort? I always have some trouble with them. I never know how thick to go, which exact shade to pick, which eyebrow shape to go for, etc. I'm sure there are many others who have the same issue. Please and thank you. :) ❤️

The reason your makeup looks so amazing is because you really tailor your technique to your own features! I feel like people keep doing whatever others are doing even when it doesn't make sense for them, so their look never comes out the way they want. I absolutely love the subtle shaping of the eye and have often wondered how you achieve the look so naturally. My challenge now is to try to make it work for myself!

The trick of using a similar color as a base for shaping your eye prior to a brown transition color, is one I've been in need since forever, because like you said, using only the brown it looks dirty and patchy when having paler skin. Mascara is malevolent indeed. None of my eye looks are complete without at least a speck of it on my lower or upper eyelid. I'm so pleased that I finally know what you use on your lower lashline. Ilimasqua's eyeshadow in the shade Vapour is especially attractive to me. Thank you for another helpful and informative tutorial. I think I've finally learned a way of getting that cat eye effect on my eyes that doesn't involve black winged liner which doesn't really suit me.

I just tried this look and it was perfect! Being a woman of a certain age I cannot go with cat eyeliner,however this gave me the lift I needed. Loving your Films

Thank you so much for this video and honestly for all of your videos. I'm studying all of them in preparation for my wedding when I do my makeup. I've been nervous for months about my wedding makeup because I don't ordinarily wear any makeup at all, but for videos have been so incredibly helpful and have made me feel so much more comfortable. Ok...this video came into my life RIGHT AT THE PERFECT TIME! since gosh middle school I've done cat eyes with liner every day almost. While I love the look, IT IS SO DRAINING! Takes me so much time still and sometimes I feel like it's a bit harsh and dramatic for all situations. I've been taking a break and doing my makeup without liner and I like it but still felt my eyes didn't have the shape I was going for. This video is great. Can't wait to try out these techniques!!! Thank you!:)

I just ADORE the way you talk, and pronunciate words, your vocabulary are so refinated and your voice are so soft that I use it as a inspiration to talk english like you. You have so much talent on teaching and are so especific that theres no way to mistake learning with you
