Beautifully stated. Is there a discernible method to actually entering the flow state? Or does it vary from person to person? Perhaps meditate for 15-20 minutes first, and then proceed with the task? Will this help facilitate flow?

@@TheGMATBootcamp I'm trying to figure it out too Chuck. Sometimes I spend all day trying to get into flow and failing, other days I have a few hour period of flow where I accomplish so much. As far as triggering flow... one night I drank 2 glasses of wine and had an inspiration to post on Instagram and that changed my life because it caused someone I would love to message me. I have drugs for ADHD which makes me feel in flow but its hit it miss wether those actions have profound effect. Weed can do it, I think because it eliminates my own fear of criticism. Basically, however you do it, I think you enter flow when you have a definete chief aim and when you're not feeling any of the 6 basic fears. For me, drugs and alcohol have occasionally helped in drowning out those fears, but I realize to get to where I really want to be I'll need to work on mitigating the airtime of these fears without the aid of drugs or alcohol. Meditation, jogging, working out, are all hit or miss for me sadly. Though my level of consistency in those areas is also iffy. My next idea/inspiration is to just meditate daily, however long it takes to even just touch on my core, timeless self.

@@TheGMATBootcamp I think you have to find your own rhythm and method, for this particular time in your life. In other times I had to meditate more - like 30-40 minutes - and there are people who meditate even more, 1-2 hours daily. One would say too many, but it's a need for them, as it was for me; now it isn't, now I meditate way less. Still daily, as it's the more natural thing (an app subscription maybe played a decent role in forming a habit though). Meditation is a tool to reset the mind to some extent. Once you reset you let go just for a moment of those thoughts that block inspiration and it can flow easily. And then of course other things happen so you get back to the old thinking. However that feeling of relief from your own false beliefs lurks in your mind and (that's totally my perceptions) helps you change bit by bit in the right direction. Meditation may directly lead you to inspired action. But it's not a must to use it. That could be a few seconds of focused breathing in front of your desk before taking the action. Or it could be the work itself, even if it's super technical - I recently experienced a glimpse of that and I was pretty surprised, as I count technical stuff as tiring. That feeling of doing what you know, in the best way, confident of your skills, confident that whatever the result it will be satisfying, enjoying every bit of the process and not fixated on the outcome. Or it can be watching a movie that really inspires you, playing favorite music albums, etc. The state of pure appreciation of somebody, or their work, without any parasitic feelings like jealousy, comparison, worry - I think that can be compared to meditation in terms of the shift that can cause in a person's mind. And then the action, the idea, the new viewpoint is inevitable. It's the most natural thing in the world.
