I have a couple of shavettes in addition to my straight razors. I'm glad you're showing some of the new users how to break a DE blade in half to load a shavette. Key is to leave the wrapper on so you don't slice your finger off. Also be very careful when shaving as the blade will be extremely sharp; it wasn't honed or stropped nor did it need to be.

Nice tutorial, thanks! Question: how many times can you use one blade before replacing with a new one? I’ve seen other tutorials on how to strop a straight razor and NONE of them so far talk about loading the razor itself. They almost make it seem like you use the same blade for life but just need to sharpen it once in a while. I normally change blades for each shave... but then again I do get nicks almost each time lol
@CHURCHISAWESUM3 жыл бұрын
So there are two types of straight razors. Traditional and Shavette. This is a tutorial for Shavettes as they're the only ones you load with disposable razors. They're like a crossover between the DE Safety Razor and the traditional. The traditional is a solid steel blade that you have to sharpen with whetstones and sanitize after each use. Whereas the Shavettes, you replace them like safety razer blades rather than sharpening.

@mrtea82243 жыл бұрын
That last straight razor, can the blade drop out still coz theres nothing really holding it unless when it's all locked it holds the blade super tight. No notches to keep it in place though
@MaxSpider20002 жыл бұрын
It seems like both mechanisms keep the blade snug by friction. Razors are incredibly thin and therefore very light so don't expect them to go flying out anytime soon

How do you clean the razor with the slide out loading mechanism?
@ezbladeshavingproducts4 жыл бұрын
The razor should be change if your using on a new customer. If your using on your self spray with disinfectant
@tundrajt2 ай бұрын
When I got my straight razor, I initially broke the blade and installed in my razor assembly. I had issues with the blade moving around and not staying in place as I shaved. Next, I tried loading it as a double blade but it didn’t line up with the holder pins and stuck out too far from the assembly. When I had it as a single blade, the blade would move around and when trying to take it out, it would stay stuck in the razor assembly when the bar was pushed all the way out. Not sure if it is just a poor quality razor or my technique, but I can’t figure for the life of me where I am going wrong with this thing. Maybe I’m better off with my safety razor after all…
