Hi, just came across your KZfaq channel and subscribed, it's good to see Brothers out here crappie fishing. My question is what is your setup for Crappie, I see in this episode you use what looks like a 10 maybe 12 ft pole, what brand Pole are you using, what pound test and what lures do you use. I use B&M Sam super sensitive 7 ft, 10 ft & 11 ft, rear seat on 11 ft. I match them with B&M pro 50 ultralight reels with four and six pound Mr crappie and vicious on both. My lure choices are crappie magnet or Strike King basically. I live in Michigan near Detroit just off the Detroit River in River Rouge, MI. I'm looking forward to watching your channel and I'll be looking at your past videos too, tight lines.

Robert thank you so much for watching and your support!! Yep - I use B&M Buck's 10ft Graphite Rods with Siena 4000 reels, 6lb Sufix High Vis line - Although I'll be doing a comparison vid hopefully between Sufix and Mr Crappie 6lb High Vis.. I use mainly Bobby Garland this time of year and in the spring I float back and forth between Bobby Garland and Mr. Crappie plastics. Thanks again for watching - more to come!! Tight Lines Sir!!

Interesting. Since I just started crappie fishing this spring this will be valuable information for me this fall. Although I'll probably target trout more in the fall and winter. I've wondered how the crappie bite would be during these seasons. Do you change your presentation or colors any in the fall or pretty much what you use in spring just perhaps looking for locations that differ from springtime patterns? Thx!
@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
Hey there - great to hear from you! Yes.. I change my presentation depending on the area I'm fishing - some times bobber fishing is better due to location other times single Jig vs Double Jig rigs work a little better - and I yes I do change up the colors a bit in the Fall vs the Spring as the Water clarity is different in both seasons. Hoping to get a video out soon to show my Color choices. Hope the Fall trout fishing goes well! Tight lines, keep in touch and Thanks so much for watching!!

@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
Great Question - Both - it's easier with sonar/Side scan.. but you can also look for visible sign of big Bass and other predator fish crashing through the balls of shad on the surface - I set my side scan to 60ft each side. I can usually spot balls of shad if they're near the area I'm targeting for Crappie that day - Tight Lines and thx for watching and the questions Sir!!

🎣 so when it comes to crappie fishing what is the best colors to use and what would be the best pound test line to use too. Is it anything like trout fishing. With trout you can use line from 2 to 8 lb test and the fishing jigs or lures you can use 1/64 oz all the way up to a 1/24 oz. I practically grew up on trout fishing more than anything. There's a place near where I live in Pennsylvania, it's a nice little canal and there are a few crappies in there but not much. I've been fishing in that area about 7 years off and on and only caught one crappie so far. Great video and I enjoyed watching.
@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
Hi Shawn - Thank you sir for watching!! When it comes to Crappie fishing Color is KING but it is hard to say what colors work best without explaining why and under what circumstance a certain color would be used. What I'd say is that my color choices are based on the amount of light penetrating the water and the water clarity at any given time since these factors largely influence how Crappies perceive the colors under the water. Right now, Monkey Milk, which is kind of a Clear Pearl color, is working quiet well. 4 to 6lb test on a medium light action rod should be just fine. Crappie fishing is a bit different than fishing for and really depends on where you're fishing for Crappie, lake, river, pond, etc... If you're fishing shallow water(5 to 15ft) I'd recommend using a slip Bobber with minnows... I've got a few videos to guide you on the setup. Should be a lot of fun!! I love Trout. I used to fish for them in California - in the Sierra Nevada Mountains! Loved it!! Hope you get into the Crappies - let me know if you have any more questions!! Tight lines Sir and thanks again for watching!!

@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ted - you could lookup the lake map online or use Chart Viewer for your Humminbird. if you don't have chart Viewing capabilities - then I recommend going to webapp.Navionics.com at the top of the screen - click the "Viewer" menu option and then client Chart Viewer - click the minus sign in the upper right had corner and back-out the display so as to see the east coast then find Marion Lake. once you've found it you should be able to see the "Channel" for Lake Marion. You can also get the Navionics Chart view chip for your Humminbird. You'll also be able to see areas of flooded timber just of the Creek Channel for Lake Marion - When you follow the map and go out onto the water to and area that crosses the Creek channel - you'll usually see a very distinct change in dept. Once you've located the Channel - referencing the lake map or the Navionics map Chart Viewer - explore areas marked as flooded Timber or stumps. Hang in there - it can be tough learning lakes and your electronics. But it'll pay dividends! You'll find them!! Keep at it!! I hope this helps Ted - Tight lines and thanks so much for watching!!!

@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
indeed!! and regarding the starting dept.. this time of year - I search high in the water column and work my way down - - once I find the fish(whether they're schooled in open water relating to a piece of structure or in tight to it) I start at the top of the school and work my way down. Because the crappies are feeding up and chasing bait fish, the 5 to 15ft range would be great starting ranges. Hope this helps - thanks for watching - tight lines!!

Hi Johnny - I'm using 6lb test.. Mr. Crappie and Sufix - I'll be doing a review video to compare the 2.. But yeah.. mostly 6lb Sufix high vis. Just started using Mr. Crappie. Both are good and the Sufix is very strong line! If I'm using a slip float configuration, then I using 6lb main line and 4lb leader. Thanks for much for watching and for the question!!! What jig color would you recommend I live in Fort Worth Texas and fish a lot of green stained water
@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
For Green Stained water and sunshine I'd try Green, chartreuse and maybe an Orange and If your plastics had contrasting colors like an orange belly/green top 2-tone plastic - that would be good to try and I'd present in a double rig - 2 variations setup to see which one produced and up your chances for a strike. In Low light conditions you could try a purple/pink or Brown/orange or black/chartreuse. It's all about presenting something that mimics the bait fish in the eyes of the Crappie through the stained water which with the same plastic will appear one way in the sunlight and another in cloud cover. You have to work a bit until you figure out what the want! But hang in there and keep after them! You'll get them! Thanks for watching and for the question - GREAT Question By-the-Way. Really enjoyed your video, you explain things so well. Caesar Creek is my home lake fish it once or twice a week. You make it look pretty easy to catch crappie there!! It's not that easy. Wondered how often you get hung up on trees are you using braid and how long you were out there to make the video? Thanks for sharing!!!!
@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
there is a reason that all of my vids are made on Caesar Creek for the moment and you nailed one of the main reasons - It is not an easy lake to fish for Crappie - I've had to learn quite a bit about the Crappie's patterns. I've definitely lost a few plastics in the Trees - especially right after a cold front because the fish push deep into the brush. I use 6lb High Vis Mono. I'm going to try to do a review vid to compare the Sufix brand with the Mr. Crappie Brand - sometimes I'm out there a few hours and sometimes several - depends on so many factors - the main factor me LOL... But I love it! Thanks so much for watching and for the Support Scott!! More to come!!

@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
Yes but can get a bit trick pitching with a 10' Jig pole but it can be done - anything beyond 30' with even the slightest current in the channel will need a little more weight - perhaps a split shot or even another Jig - That will most likely be my next video as we follow the progression of the transition to Winter. Hi Sterling - I'm actually from Louisiana, born and raised in New Orleans and grew fishing for Specs and Reds down at the Mouth of the Gulf and the River in Venice La. I would look for shallow weed beds, downed trees or willow pads and start there. Use a cork and Jig and fish very tightly into the cover and target early morning and late evening.. if the water is very stained, use a high vis jig. Do you think high barometer makes a difference or a low barometer makes a difference or a steady barometer
@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
Hi Rick.. I think they all make a difference in how the fish behave.. higher steady pressure seems to stimulate more steady feeding while the low pressure fronts send them into wood holding tight and you have to work for them but if you have an approach for each you can usually pick up on fish 😃.. great question... and thanks for watching!!!

Just found your channel (subscribed) and I want to thank you for passing on some useful crappie catching info. I do have one suggestion... stop calling trees, vegetation, man-made attractors, debris, etc "structure" as opposed to "cover." As I have always understood, structure is the bottom contour of the water body while cover lies upon or emanates upward from the bottom. Large, natural rocks, however, may fall into the category of both. Just a constructive comment, not a criticism. Keep it going!.
