How to loft a dorm bed at K-State (lower it to what they call a Captain bed height)

There are a few height options for your dorm room bed at Kansas State University. We were in Ford Hall, where all beds were initially set at the highest setting (with bed near the ceiling, called LOFT Height) when we arrived. This video shows how to lower it so that your bed so it is just high enough fit your dresser and other storage underneath. They call this CAPTAIN bed height. I call it loft bed in the video, but technically I should be calling it Captain height in the video.

This was such a helpful video, thank you! I go to a different school that uses the same style of bed frames and wanted to lower one of them. I had no idea where to start, so this video was such a help. Now my friends can use it as a hangout spot!

This will be helpful! I don't go to the same school, but some of the rooms at my school have these beds and I'm hoping to raise them to the same height as shown here if I get a room with these beds.

Honestly I was just so surprised to see kstate in the title of a recommended video so I watched this even though I already know how to do this haha. Too bad I didn’t see this two years ago it would have been helpful

Most want to do the opposite as most dorm rooms are too small and you get a desk space underneath the bed.

I don’t know how or where to buy the beds. These are the beds that are already in the university dorm rooms.

They're called university bunk beds and the cheapest one I've found is like $600 🤯 maybe find a college that's closing and see about trying to get one 🤷🏾‍♀️

They normally do NOT allow this. You typically have to keep everything in your room that they’ve put in there

What if your bed is down where do you get the thing you took out to move it

I would suggest looking around in the room (in window ledges, on shelves in the room, etc.). If you can't find them, I would ask someone at the dorms. I would imagine they'd have replacements for lost components.
