Depending on the tech, the FiOS setup and software install will have you set an admin password. Some also have a unique admin password on the Modem's label, and some use part of the MAC address. The default password depends on the router model. If you change the DSL admin password before you go through the installer web page it won't succeed. The first machine you connect to the DSL modem/router won't be allowed past the install screen. The second device connected will be allowed.

Also, the newer FiOS routers setup the default security as WPA and ask you for a password on install. I think, but I don't completely remember that they also ask you to provide the SSID. Before it was a short hex SSID, and 64bit WEP encryption. So, it seems like they're working on it.

hi Hak5 yeaahh i finaly got my pineapple...THX it cost UPS 4 days to bring the pakkets from your shop to my home in the Netherlands (Dutch) only one bad point is the 3.0.0 firmware allready on the pineapple... i hope for the 2.8.1 firmware :) Greetz, Eldin

I think it really up to how the tech is. On old fios router they where all wep encryption and router pass was ussaly Password1 now they are wpa and the password for the router is now random and posted on the router.

What you say is true about the login and password for Verizon Routers, but said password usage stops for the New N Routers, that password is printed on the Modem itself. I am sure all DSL modems, even the new updated versions will still use that same password1. It is not as easy to access however as you most likely have to be wired in to the Modem to access the control panel, no wireless device is allowed... FYI...

I hate to be that guy, but you can find a list of all the router passwords on the xbox website. Im not a big fan of Microsoft, but this is a quick easy resource. also all the little pre-hackers post comments when msft get it wrong.

The Verizon password thing has changed years ago... All new routers should be using WPA2.

OMG!!! Verizon is the worst. All of the APs I pick up from them are still freakin WEPs around here, at the end of 2014. You can tell the VZ routers by the BSSIDs either being long as hell and starting with BH or they are 5 characters; capital letters numbers only.
