Love and freedom seem to be mutually exclusive, but they're not. You can love in freedom and I'll teach you how by:
- Showing the difference between love and attachment.
- Helping you let go of attachment.
- Describing exactly what "freedom" means.

Loving with attachments was hard for me to understand. I needed to make sense of it through my own personal experiences in order for it to resonate with me. Now I know I'm still learning but so far I have found that when I love with attachment I find myself feeling lots of anxiety, restlessness and frustration and I find my thinking and decision making to also be more fear based.
@RRijesh
@RRijesh 2 жыл бұрын
If you have attachment then it is about "you". Something inside you which needs your own attention to get it fixed. If you feel jealousy just observe it. Is being in love means you can have jealousy/ possessiveness/attachment? For love to express fully between the two these aspects should not be there between both of you. Love flow fully & blissfully when we don't allow these things interfere in our life.

I will add love freely with boundaries for in the absence of boundaries the darkness infiltrate. Have a think about it. Property are fenced, danger zone in beaches are fenced, protected forest zones, preservations, vice and light. In these limited examples from a larger perspective, there must be boundaries in that freedom
@Ash-yo1mu

I wholeheartedly agree with boundaries. I can’t accept an “open” relationship as love. It seems to lack depth and is self serving; warping the meaning of love and using love and freedom as a form to justify pleasure seeking behavior.

Met my twin last year, which filled a life long void in myself that I didn't even know I had. There was attachment at first, but now it's turned unconditional...even though I get upset if she doesn't make me a priority 100% of the time. I know I'm unreasonable and the emotion is anger, but I'm aware of the emotion and working on it. I think it's a trust issue and attachment.

I think it's really interesting when you talk about wholeness and pure love. I have only felt this once in my life and that was during a period where I decided to devote my life to God. I made the concious choice to be single and only focus on myself and my relationship with God. I suddenly started to see the world around me in exactly the way you are describing. I viewed everything as temporary.. I also practiced being grateful to God and understood I was given everything from Him. I think that one practice is what really allowed me to feel whole. I swear I walked in pure joy every moment of the day and it was the greatest feeling ever. Eventually someone came into my life and we started a romantic relationship. I think without even noticing, I replaced all the joy and wholeness with attachment towards this new guy. My identity was no longer in God, it was about this person now. I believe he is my twin flame. Perhaps God brought him to me to work through all of my issues and to become better in general. It did lead me to my lowest points though. We separated for a few years and are now coming back together. I can't say it's easy, but I think I am at least starting to understand these forces better. Christina, do you think it's possible these practices you talk about...freedom and love, being whole, etc. come from God? Is it possible our brokeness as fallen human beings is made whole through accepting God into our lives and conciously choosing to walk in that light with Him? It can't all be coincidence.

In terms of what someone might allow... love without expectation, does not mean love without orientation. You are still allowed to have boundaries for a relationship. If a lover would choose infidelity in that space then maybe they are not the lover for you. And that is ok

I have been working through this myself. It is particularly relevant as I am in the midst of unrequited love for someone. It began about six months ago. I realized it is my attachment to a particular outcome with this person that creates the suffering. To avoid this problem each day I let them go to be the person they wish to be. It is hardest when they are upset as my heart goes out to them very strongly and I wish to be there for them. I realize now even that is an attachment idea. An attachment to a belief that I *should* be there to support them. Whoever the person they go to for support is their choice not mine. I feel this lesson is a great lesson for me to learn detachment from outcomes. I am noticing as I write this that I have attachment to seeing her again because it is pleasurable to just see her. Desire again manifesting as seeing her beauty once more and general feelings of well being in her presence. When I exhale it feels good to release the tension of it. Part of love is letting go.

Such a powerful topic to wrestle with, as the answer for me was in scripture. My perfect example is with God above. My 15 yr old daughter wanted to spend the weekend with her boyfriend at a Frat house out of town, after 3 days of prayer, I explained why I would not want her to do so, but said that I would not stand in her way, because my perfect example believes in Freewill, so much so that he never interferes with my choices in life. So following his example, I will not interfere with her decision and instead be there for her no matter what. It was a painful decision, but the right one, as fear says, are you crazy? But love says, it will be OK, Trust and Love were proven correct, all was well in the end. Thank you for the reminder.

The best way is to live alone, not to have relationships at all. In this way, you avoid all relationship problems. I have made this solution. After some terrible trials, I thought, that I must be insane, if I, again and again, want something that is so painful, so hurtful land only damaging my life, like a relationship. Maybe in this lifetime, I was supposed to live alone and that is my path to peace. I give freedom to everyone now, but also to myself. Love does not need a relationship. I can love anyone and anything without any commitments. Living alone (with cats) is nothing away from me. In general, this life is such a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT that it is just hard to recover from that knowledge. Of course, I wanted to have nice relationships. Everything turned what bad I have done to deserve this hell. I do not even want to try relationships anymore. I got enough. I cannot do it any more.

I agree with you on nearly everything, but I do not agree that attachment is “bad”. Human life is supported by attachment in very positive ways. Social interactions and attachments support healthy familial bonds and the broader kinship culture. This is evolution. As long as love and attachment are “balanced“, they both are essential for supporting good human health and development.

I am a 45 gay man! There’s something that’s called open relationships. Meaning you can be in a relationship and also experience your sexuality however you want. If my boyfriend’s sex fantasy is to have a threesome with an Asian and black guy, I will never be able to provide that. I also wouldn’t want to be the reason somebody didn’t do something. I used to have this idea of love and ownership going hand by hand. I have been in long term relationships since I was 17. In the queer community is very normal to celebrate somebody’s unapologetic choice to do with their body and their sexuality whatever makes them happy. But we tend to only be happy when others are doing only what we want them to do. That’s not love. That is attachment. Instead of trying to change somebody so they will fit in the parameters of our own minds, shouldn’t we be letting people be who they wanna be asap? In my opinion (and I respect your choice to disagree) this idea that we get married in our 20s and we literally sign a contract that basically states that the only person you are allowed to fvck is me for the rest of our lives sounds like a prison. Not to mention that this normativas that society imposes on people is basically giving away a woman away as a piece of property, from man to man (father to husband) This is your movie. You are the director, writer, producer and actor! If a monogamous relationship is not for you, then people should respect that. And if they aren’t able to do so, maybe you are the wrong choice as their partner
