I personally cannot emphasis the importance of greaseing your drags prior toward use. This to me is a major factor of the longevity of your reel responding and correctly applying to proper amount of pressure to give you the smoothest transition you can possibly get. haveing the technology of twin drag is "icing on the cake" for any Saltwater fishing you do in, any part of the ocean worldwide.

Do all accurate reels come out of the box with their drag washers greased? If so since when?

All drags are greased upon before they are put into spool during assembly. The Cal's grease works great and the only thing that might create problems is if the reel is submerged into saltwater which will leave containments on the surface. Salt. Hope that helps.
