I use weight 2 (Cubicle) or 30k on the core. On the pieces, I use weight 2 or 30k and lubicle silk + dnm/Compound V/Compound X depending on the cube. Once I break in the cube for a long while, I put lubicle 1 in. Edit: and this is how I main the Yuxin Kylin V2, Kirin 4x4, Cloud 5x5, and Little magic 6x6.

Was wondering, I’ve had the gan x and xs for a while, the little hexagonal tracks on the pieces on the x are getting filled with what looks like dirt, I assume it’s the residual melted plastic from all the friction inside the cube given that I don’t lube the cube. Therefore I’m gonna start lubing it more but I was wondering if there are any lubes best for the gan x ?

I love how smooth the cube turns now, it's so quiet and much faster now. I tried lubing it a different way though, I put four drops in per side, one drop straight down each corner of the center pieces, and that's only because I'm not used to lubed cubes yet. Love your videos man, keep it up. 😁

Love your videos buddy. One thing i wanted to mention here is it might be worth adding a notation surrounding the screw adjustment step. The video shows the white being adjusted but when checking, by spreading the opposite layers apart, you are in fact adjusting one or both of those sides (orange/red)... Repeating for all layers, then continuing to test, leading onto the corner cut test in your video using the white face.
@patchcabletube
@patchcabletube 4 жыл бұрын
thinking back, not sure i was clear so...I'm thinking it'd be easier to turn the checking face (white in this case) to the side, lets say to the left (right handed) so white face is pointing left then check that white faces gap in comparison to it's four sides in-turn (orange/green/red/blue) by ONLY separating the center piece of one of those sides (right thumb) and the side piece of the checking face (left thumb), 1 gap to view not two. A consistent, over-sized, spaced gap all round indicates an adjustment can be made to the white face, tightening the screw. An In-consistent gap indicates that you will need to repeat this process for the side face (which becomes your checking face) with the largest gap space, most likely being the side which is too loose.

I use Microfiber cloths when wiping down my cubes. I also prefer super smooth feeling turning, but it needs to be fast. So I usually used a small, and I mean SMALL, bit of silicone lube on the tracks of the pieces, and then use a combination of TheCubicles Angstrom V and DNM37 (not sure what the SCS equivalents would be). This combo with fairly loos tensions makes my MF3RS2M fly with minimal effort, but remains very stable. Hope this helps someone :)

Just in time. Got a little magic and can definitely feel how loose/uncontrollable it is. I like this video because it is going over exactly where to place the lube. Did first time solve just this last weekend thanks to J perm basic tutorial. Now just working speed into muscle memory and building more intuition. Anyone has suggestion which magnets to use with little magic? I was thinking the n 35 4-2. Not sure if I want to screw it up ie have to remove magnets after the fact. I know I could’ve gotten the little magic m but I wanted to get something basic first. And like a light saber I wanted to tune my little magic cube to my preference. Just out of curiosity from all the members what lube and magnets did you use to make your light saber/little magic more controllable.

Very useful video , in my opinion i prefer the CFOP way of testing the corner cutting and the screw depth at the same time using the last corner algorithm of R D' R' D over and over again, if the bottom layer feels like the corner piece is going to pop off any minute then I'll tighten it a little, if it can't even do a reverse corner cut then just slightly loosen it, doesn't necessary to be a full solve to find out which side needs adjustment

I had Huggies baby wipes lying around, easier to find than a fresh towel. They cut lube easily and leave fresh plastic, no need for toothbrush so far. They get every tiny bit of lube and leave a fresh surface as if lube was never there. Great after lubing too, keep your fingers clean and the outside of the cube grippy. Surprisingly good, give it a try.

You know I find the best way to break in a cube, especially a large cube is to stuff it into a sock or plastic bag and spin it around for a couple of minutes. It takes the lube and forces it to the outside if its not in the core and spreads the rest around to the inner pieces.

Hey! I’ve got a quick question. I just got a new weilong gts3m, and coming from a budget 3x3 that was clunky, it’s suuuuper fast, even on the 8th setting which I’m using now. I was wondering if there was a way I could make it tighter/more controllable so I can ease into it more comfortably, maybe using a screwdriver but I’m not sure which direction to turn and how much etc. Any help is appreciated from anyone and thank you for the quality videos!

Nice video! I appreciate your saying the requirements to make it solvable (otherwise, I would have assembled it solved). How long does it take you to take apart, clean, and set up a big cube (5x5x5 or 6x6x6)? Not having done it before, it took me about 90 minutes... someone could buy a new cube with the money earned in the time it takes to take apart, clean, and set it up. I wonder if someone who can disassemble and assemble them quickly could go to a competition and offering to do this for $5 to $25 (depending on the size of the cube). Someone could drop it off and return in a couple of hours, just like dropping off your car to get an oil change.

don't be too thorough with the cleaning part. most of the time I just lube, but when the insides get too bad, I do a slight cleaning so that it's about 80% good and takes far less time. I'm not sure how long it takes but probably around 20-30 min with cleaning and assembling, and just lube without cleaning would be 1 min.

Core lube is VERY! important, unless you want your cube to bump super uncomfortably along each turn, unlike magnetic bumps this bump is painful, it slows down your cube and it causes a loud sound called spring noise, spring noise damages the cube, it's WAY better to just *stick* to lubing the core for better performance, turning, and speed. PLEASE LUBE YOUR CUBE"S CORE! THANK YOU!

For me, I like to have a fast cube. For my 3 by 3 (Gan 356 XS) I set my screw depth to 3 or 4(it depends, when i feel like a faster cube, i use 4, when i want more stable cube, i use 3) and spring to 3(being the third loosest) i generally like fast cube, as for me, tighter cube feel slow and i didnt enjoy it as much.

So o got weight 5 and it was much thicker than i thought it would be. It's thick and sticky to the fingers, like elmer's glue. Its great for slowing down a cube but wish i knew what it felt like before. I ordered a tube of weight 1 to speed it back up and will find the range i like from that blend.
