How to Magnet fish - episode 2/5 BEST Rope For Magnet Fishing!
In this episode of how to magnet fish i will share my opinion on what rope to buy and what clamps to use on your rope. In How to Magnet fish episode 2/5 which rope to buy and what clamps to use i go to my local DIYstore and look at what they have on sale.
I start of looking at polyproplene twisted rope which is ok because its water proof and strong but i dont like how it can un twist.
Then i look at braided rope which is better and just as strong but if its to thin it will hurt your hands and if its to thick its spongy and can feel like the outer layer moves and stretches.
New is the webbing, ive not tried this yet and i think it will be strong and not knot as easy but i dont know what its like for tying knots.
Then a show swr or steel wire rope which is very heavy duty but its harsh on your hands and if it knots / kinks its very hard to get the kinks out.
Last i talk about para cord which is strong but tangles easily but if you look after it and keep it tidy it will be fine.
I show clamps and connectore like carabeiners, d shackles and wire clamps all can be used in different configurations and its all personnal preference.

These are all the choices i would use for rope for magnet fishing.
So my best rope for magnet fishing is para cord for magnet fishing.

Awesome info for those not knowing. I use braided "abrasion resistant" anchor rope, 100 feet. Cost me about 16.00 US for 100 feet. well worth the extra cost.

Don’t use snap hooks! Use quick links for chains, get a zinc one so it isn’t magnetic. I got mine for $9 and it’s rated for 1800lbs. Plus you can tighten with a wrench so it never gets loose 👍🏼

What's wrong with snap hooks I used that on my first magnet and it worked better than some of these set ups I've seen on KZfaq also the knot I used was the hangman's noose

What's best. Tying a knot or a carabiner. My carabiner is very strong and attached to the rope, but may stick to the magnet. I haven't tried it yet.

If you have only one rope but 2 magnets like a single and double or even a grapple hook then maybe keep the carabiner but if its staying on id just tie knot direct to magnet

Instead of paracord use Battlecord. Have a higher breaking point than paracord and is also waterproof and harder to cut.

I like the thimble idea but for the life of me I can't get the thimble real tight in the knot. I've watched a ton of how to thimble knot vids but i just don't like the loose feeling of the thimble.

I could but I think it would kind of defeat the purpose of the thimble. I like the look of the thimble and then a good knot. haha, here I am worried about looks when I shouldn't be!

drasticg . I think what I was getting at is throw it out if it has even a small tear in it. But I think your right that the same can be said for all rope.

it's not, the magnetic force is rated 200kg for virtical pull but the double magnets pull horizontal as you drag combined with rusty dirty metal it can't pull no where near 200kg
