We're going over how to use Rare-Earth Magnets to more easily store and transport a Warhammer 40,000 collection!
With my move less than 2 weeks away, I'm carefully packing up all of our Warhammer 40k, Star Wars, Battletech and Fallout minis. It's a slow process, but I'm really confident that it's going to result in far less damage and work down the line.
I'm going to be using a mix of museum putty along with UV resin to affix the magnets, and I'm confident it's going to be MUCH more space efficient compared to just using foam army crates.

Do you magnetize your minis? Let me know how~

I started magnetizing my miniatures too. I use a little different method, which is quicker in my opinion: 1. I cover a magnetic backing sheet with parchment paper. 2. I place the magnets on the covered sheet where I want the bases to be. 3. I put a blob of hot glue on the magnets and push the miniature base into that blob. Just make sure that you put hot glue for one miniature down and the press the miniature in. The hot glue cools fast on the backing sheet. Because of the magnet being flat on the sheet, the base will be level with the sheet. 4. I remove the miniature from the baking sheet. Because of the parchment paper the base will easy peal off. I can do a whole backing sheet full of miniatures very quickly with that method. Since I already owned a hot glue gun and glue sticks, I only had to buy the magnets. Please let me know what you think about my method. Thank you for your great videos. (also the "after dark" ones, you know what I mean.) 🙂

This is perfect. My recommendation to anyone out there is spring the little bit extra for N52 magnets. MUCH stronger. Also, you can get these in 10mm long, 5mm wide and 2mm thick. Perfect for mini’s and just one is probably twice as strong as just a couple round ones.

“You got this, magnetize those minis!” Great video. Great editing CC. This should be very helpful to anyone having move or travel with minis. The flip test was a great way to show why you put the putty down to help. I bet this was the biggest time consuming part of packing. Other than packing the rest of the house. 💜⚔️💜⚔️

I bought sheet magnets pre cut from a craft/sewing shop and use thin double sided tape. Worked perfect on the shatter point bases. Bought a deep cake tin and they safe as.

I wonder how full base sized magnet stickers would work for the flush bases. I understand Cobalt Keep sells magnet ready bases. Fun video.

I print Txarli Factory scenic bases, which have receptacles built into the bottom for magnets. I also line the bottom of my storage boxes with magnetic sheeting.

Talk about PINK. Trustfall may be a fitting name to your miniatures. Like the way you show how to transport your models... Regards from Denmark. Alex..

Personally find it easier to glue a blank bottom of the base (i use plumbers 2part epoxy to fill in the bottom of the base just to give it some weight when i use non printed bases or minis ) and use a magnet between the blank and sheet this way i dont have to worry about the magnet interfering with anything on a table or game board

I use a hot glue gun. First I put grease proof paper on the metal tray. Put the magnets on the tray, on top of the grease proof paper and a blob of glue on the base of the mini. Press the base with glue on to the magnet and make sure it’s flat. I find it works well because the glue fills the slight difference between the thickness of the magnets and the recess in the base.

To be sure of a good contact, just thought you could put the magnet into the tac softly, and press the entire thing onto a flat surface to make them flush. I think the bluetack is a great idea, I would have just tried to get them flush on the underside with a spacer of some sort and superglue.

For magnetising shallow or flat mdf bases you can use the self adhesive sheet-style magnets

Why not just use magnetic tape

Be careful. I used that size magnet on the poxwalkers and a magnet this size is to strong.. Moving 20 of them can feel like they will move the earth below me.. Also why struggle with uv resin? Just super glue them on
@iamerror7392

Is there a reason that this is better than super glue?
@HobbyNight
@HobbyNight Ай бұрын
Superglue doesn't like to grab the magnets, also this allows for easier batch drying in my experience

Yeah, could you NOT be shining the damn light in the camera? You're going to trigger medical issues such as seizures, epilepsy, etc..... at least, maybe put a warning or something?
@richardrussell7082
@richardrussell7082 Ай бұрын
That light and the way it was pointed at the camera would not have induced a seizure. There was no flickering at any discernible rate that would have set off a photo-sensitive reaction.
