First of all i'm apologyce for My unknowledge, second of all a 18650 litio battery it's really similar to a phone 3.7 litio battery, both of them have to have a bms circuit to prevent early Bad performance, this and that a 18650 battery it's more protected thanks to it's metal container, if You accidentally cut a phone battery could explode and release toxic gases (like a 18650 just that this one is harder to damage) but tecnically You can use it and it's better if You use batteries with a similar capacity
