Awesome little hack! This helped me get my vintage Smurf AM radio back in working order, with no additional money put into it. Thanks for making a video that's clear and straight to the point!

Helpful as I never considering reusing the battery top. The 9V connector on the electric on my front door broke when I pulled the old battery out to replace it. It would have cost $119.00 to replace lock or I could have waited a few days for replacement connectors to arrive. Then it would have been necessary to splice the wires together. You made my Saturday!

Nice job! I figured out a work around as I don't have a soldering iron. One side of my connector was still good. The other side came off with the old battery (probably a small leak corroded it?). I pulled the missing connector off the battery as you did and cut it down to the side I needed. I stripped back the wire and put it against the battery terminal. Then I put the connector on TOP of the wire to hold it in place against the battery terminal. Worked great and no waiting for parts or a soldering iron. :)

Thanks a lot for this video. My sump pumps 9v battery was dying (for its alarm I think) and it uses one of these. Had no idea what it was, and I was afraid to just tear it off and create a larger problem. Thanks to you I'm all fixed up now!

Thank you I was looking for an old walkie talkie or something to rip the connector off of, never thought about using an old battery instead! Used hot glue to seal the connector after soldering the wires.

I like to make mine so the wires come out the middle and then hot glue over the top. I find that the ones that the wires go on the short side tend to break easier.

By law he should be using brown as positive and blue as negative, that is in Australia anyway, but it's just a battery, you can wire whatever colours you want on whatever port.

Apparently you live a most privileged existence and do not understand the concept of people working with their hands in less than, shall I say the cleanliness of a surgical suite. An inexpensive soldering tool is an excellent investment for anyone with an interest/hobby in electronics. It will pay for itself many, many times over. You can also generally get a used one for about a dollar at stores dealing with donated items, i.e., salvation army, habitat rehab, pawn shops, yard sales, etc.

good video but if your using red for positive and black for negative then you put them on the wrong terminals the large terminal is negative the small one is positive, unless you just like short circuiting things...
