First off, sorry this is a weekly science video, it feels like a cop out ( due to the fact that it is practically nothing new ) so hopefully I'll be able to get some experiment video or something out this week, ( it was a bit busy this past week with the end my my school semester because I am a procrastinator )
Anyways... Leave a comment telling me what you want to see! Also any critique is appreciated! ( besides talking too fast... don't worry I am working on that :P )

Solid science. One tip though, you might want to consider using heat shrink after the electrical tape for longevity and extra insulation. I've found that over time, with usage and heat that the electrical tape tends to wear down and become more of a sticky flappy mess than an insulator. Not required, but just a small extra step that will make you things last a bit longer, and be a bit more user friendly. Love the videos by the way. Keep it up!

a general FYI for anyone building one of these. this is beyond the level and for a long term duration then most equipment is ElectroStatic Discharge tested so keep that in mind for anyone who has electronics they don't wish to fry. also a slight chance of induced RF interference although the rise times are unlikely to be crazy high. high voltage can be fun. be safe.

entertaining to watch, but... the super cheap tactile switches are crap, the soldering and tool abuse made me flinch, and the short electrode distance makes this a searing cattle prodder, rather than a stun gun, causing debilitating cramps. (yes, fellow smart ass, you still need a spark gap, to protect the coils. =

+scott dilks that's something we Canadians had thought at first. Seems that they would prefer my $5.00 investment!! Since it was our tax dollars that our government spent to bring them from thier shithole desert..most of us believe that we will have to pay to ship them back..

Hi... Would it be possible to use this boost converter to make the fractal patterns that you do in another video as it seems as though it would be safer than using the microwave oven transformer. Not sure if the voltage would be high enough though or if it would be sustainable long enough to get a pattern in the wood.

I made one and it worked perfectly but after a few uses I have to put it up to an object to create the arc instead of just clicking the button and it working. It just beeps when I press the button. I'm not sure if I have done something wrong with the circuit or with the nails. if you know a solution it would be appreciated
