Hi: I followed your steps to the tee, and I seem to only get at max 3.8 volts out of the circuit. Can you give me some troubleshooting tips?

Upgrade to a large solar cell.

If you have 3 solar cells of approximately 5v each like the video, you most likely are wiring them in parallel, so the voltage stays the same but the amperage is adding up. You must wire them in series so that the voltage is added between all of them and the amperage stays the same.
