I must say Sir, that this video calmed my wild ADD for a little while! I normally fly through videos, playing at least 1.5 speed, and sometimes skipping ahead. But this little classy, classically captured masterpiece of man playing with his wood made my mind go…sceeerrrrrrrch!!! I watched at normal speed, and wasn’t bothered by it! I actually found myself going back, 10 seconds at a time, to make sure I didn’t miss which way your wood was pointing, especially since you had told us to watch for it. You handled your wood masterfully, and then put it into a box for us all to see, and we all stared, riveted! Bravo my dear Sir, your skills as a woodsmith have gained you another subscriber. 👏🏻

Hello Blake, I have spent the last couple of days working through making this box. It's my first as I am just building my workshop which is a garage and gathering tools to build intresting things. This video was so inspiring for my first box. It is looking pretty good. I am not sure if I can upload any pictures, but if so I would love to show you what I have done and get your feedback. Definitly an amateur and learning every time I try something new.

Very very well demonstrated. I’m not quite a beginner but have no fancy equipment. An ancient tablesaw with crummy fence, nice bandsaw with only a 6” opening, and no planer or jointer. I do a lot with hand tools. You gave me options. There are a lot of patterns that assume you have a planer and jointer: a barrier. [Pretty amused that my phone auto corrected planer to planet. I’m a rocket scientist 😂

Very simple project for new woodworkers and the wood grains really make something to be proud of and to display. One simple suggestion would be to make the handles concave like the inside of an ear lobe. I think the feel would add to the handles. Probably a detail sander and some patience.

Beautiful. I love the choice to go with a contrasting handle on the walnut box while staying with the curly maple for the handle on the maple box. That may be due to you running out of walnut but I still really liked that detail! Just one thing I have to know - blade guards on your table saw, but fingertips right up to the router bit?? Be safe, dude!

Really nice video. Very impressed with the final product particularly hand shaping with a ROS. Can't figure out how you would make the box inside without a CNC. Bandsaw would leave a through cut. Keep up the good work.
@weberwoodshop
@weberwoodshop 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think your comment was meant for the Leaf Box video... Before I had a CNC I have done it with a router, and router template, or by drilling out the center with a large forstner bit and then a scroll saw, or you could even use hand tools. If you don't mind the seam you can even do it as a bandsawn box. Or you could train your pet termites and they could remove the desired material. Lots of options.
