I would prefer that you show the evolution of difference in render when you modify the shadows.

While it's true that we all stand on each others shoulders, I think you should have at least acknowledged Blender Binge's efforts. However your own work did highlight a different way of achieving a similar goal. I'd like to add a few points. The nucleus is a little ragged using your settings. This can be improved either a) exploring IOR values closer to 1.00 than 0.9. 0.975 and 1.025 look interesting, b) by changing refraction depth of the membrane shader from 0 (disabled) to something like 0.05. That alone will ruin the definition of the membrane, so you then have to change the IOR from 0.9 to 1.450, and all is well. Changing the shadow mode from 'opaque' to 'none' allows the nucleus to be seen more clearly, (more or less as it would look without the membrane). Reducing the transmission from 1.00 to around 0.8 can give you a nice milky look. Alternatively add in about 0.05 of white emission to achieve something similar.

Thx for your advices. I am on my way to enhance my skills on Blender because I use it As a Biology Teacher to translate my lessons into videos. ❤
