Great work, Pete! And Leah too. I think I can handle this project after having done the concrete top bar project along with the stool one. I think it will help to get more people to use it whenever the bar is crowded and specially I can leave it outdoor all year long during winter times.

Pete, you're a rockstar, I picked up some tricks regarding concrete making, wish i saw these videos few months ago, I've been tiling everything , little more pricier but guarantees a finished look without spending all the time sanding and curing cement.

Great build you two, I enjoy seeing folks using pocket hole joinery & it looks as if an assembled base can hold a concrete top without any difficulties the Kreg jig is an awesome tool to have 👍👍👍

Pete, love you videos. I poured my first concrete countertops last night--and I've watched a fair number of your videos to get myself comfortable enough. Fingers crossed they'll turn out okay. One tip that I saw on another video was using a hammer drill set to hammer and then hammer drilling into a sacrificial space block of 2x4. I have a Bosch hammer drill, so I just used that with a paddle bit. Worked amazing. I know a lot of your stuff is set up for DIY folks, and they may not have a hammer drill, however many of them do have a cordless drill that has a hammer drill setting on it...so maybe you might consider messing around with that on a future episode. Keep up the great work, dude.

Pete, Have you had any trouble with sealing the concrete so early in the curing process?

Hi! I recommend waiting a day or two after sanding or polishing if possible. But I haven't had issues as far as concrete tops goes. A lot of times I am in a bit of a hurry trying to get things filmed etc to meet deadlines and for collaborations -- so the process is accelerated ---- But allowing the concrete to cure longer would be optimal. Thanks!

I've been wanting to make a grill table for my weber grill and the hole and support for the grill using wood seems to be a challenge or extremely expensive. This would be a great alternative method for this. Can't wait to get started. Thank you for sharing.

Pete. I’m building this table now. Just poured the concrete, the only thing I may do different is add center deck board for the bottom along “foot rests” and then box in the bucket so you don’t see the strip of led lights underneath it. Thanks for the sweet projects I plan to build a few things now, outdoor kitchen, bar, etc all with concrete countertops!

Pete, My next project is custom wardrobe for my new Police Officer son. Do you have any ideas? I am including areas and rods for hanging uniforms, a special slide out wide hanger for protective vest which has to separate the front from the back , a powered ventilation fan for the vest, drawer for items such as recharging radios and such, Drawer for locking weapons and more. I am trying to finalize the plans and build soon so I can present at academy graduation with is soon. Any ideas are welcome.

Awesome project Pete!! I am also planning on building a concrete table, but with a stain. Would you recommend etching the concrete before staining or don't even bother etching it? Thank You!!

Hi! I would use a 50/50 ratio of stain to water -- or whatever the manufacturer recommends. I've used a lot of different brands --- and that is what I typically do. I would not etch before staining. Etching will etch away at some of the surface cement -- and the stain needs the limestone in the cement to react with the metallic salts in the stain. So simply apply the stain. Pete, I like the idea of using the quickcrete 5000, but my concern is that forming and pouring this way will drop some aggregate to the bottom during vibration which would be the exposed top. Do you have any issues with any gravel exposing itself. I’m thinking of going with a grout type mixture with a super plasticizer for increased strength. Your thoughts?

Hi! the cement or cream will form around them perimeters if the concrete is vibrated well. Here is an example doing some tops out of quikrete 5000. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5aAl5egnc3OloE.html --- you could certainly go with another type of mix though if you'd prefer.

Do you think the pocket holes would still be better than a couple dowels? I'm just thinking if it's the same strength or similar maybe I should try doing that

Hey Luke! Dowels are another great option. It may take a bit longer but dowel joints are nice. I'd do some googling of Pocket hole joints vs dowel joints to help make your decision. There are some good videos on youtube as well.
