looks pretty good, before sealing it, you could also apply heat (in a well ventilated/outside location) either a torch or heat gun/hair dryer) if done lightly it will give a more natural texture and also harden the foam making it les prone to breaks in the future..

I did something similar for my Russian tortoise. I usually will not use dry lock but will cut the foam insulation to the shape that I want and then smear it with caulk and then cover the caulk with peat moss. makes it look like soil

I was going to go w concrete & mold ot to look like rock but I feel like it'll be too heavy & or brittle

How does the drylock hold up to claws over the foam? Does it make a hard shell or does it stay flexible?
@Tarasaurus13
@Tarasaurus13 2 жыл бұрын
I'm also curious about this. Did you find out? Is there any way to protect the foam from falling apart by their claws? I'd be using this for a bearded dragon
@matts1072
@matts1072 2 жыл бұрын
@@Tarasaurus13 I've since started making entire cages out of foam, paper and wood glue. So far it's holding up to a spiny tail iguana and a mangrove monitor. "Poor man's fiberglass" is what gave me the idea. Making all my cages out of foam board now.
@Tarasaurus13
@Tarasaurus13 2 жыл бұрын
@@matts1072 nice! That's super cool. How do you seal the foam after finishing the paint and everything once it's done? So that the claws don't tear it up? And how easy is it to clean if the animal poos on it?

I'm trying to figure out how to use a very tall display case for a bearded dragon I know they like horizontal surfaces but I thought if I did it correctly with enough ledges it would work and be pretty. Any ideas
@Katielomax7
@Katielomax7 11 ай бұрын
10 months late but vertical spaces aren’t suitable for bearded dragons, even with ledges. They’re need floor space, it would be cruel to keep them in a vertical enclosure
@GodGunsGills
@GodGunsGills 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe this isn't even a nice build 🤣🤣🤣 It's nice! You don't great. I think on my next 4×2×2s for Fang and Aang I'm going to do the background with all wood pieces sealed to the wall!!! I'll screw logs and limbs to the back wall and together in the enclosure to make my design. I did the foam before, and I just hate messing stuff
