MATERIAL LIST
-3 pieces of 6 ft 1x4
-1 piece of 8ft 1x3
- Picture hangers
-Hunter Green Spray paint (if they dont have it any dark green spray paint should work)
-Black Spray Paint
-Sealer
-Easy Tak repositioning spray ( i use mineral spirits to clean this stuff off the stencil)
-Yellow Stain
-Dont tread on me stencil
-Graff wood carving disk
-Torch

I am partial to a darker burn, for this flag however, the edge burn allows the yellow to stand out better and is my favorite of the two. Thanks for all of your awesome videos. I have learned so much from watching and am always inspired. I love your work and the your simplistic teaching style.

Beautifully done Max. I just recently finished your Iwo Jima flag design. But I put my own little twist on it. Instead of the Iwo Jima flag raising,(which I wanted to engrave but I could not find a good enough picture to use for the guide) I put a distressed U.S. Army emblem on the bottom right corner. I’m really happy with the result. Thank you for being such an inspiration. 😁🇺🇸

I feel like I'm the oddball, but I kinda like the one with less burn more. I feel like it allows you to notice the distressed edges that are carved a bit more, and I like that the yellow stain really pops out more. I've been building a few of the Standard flags with 1x2s to sell at the local farmers/craft market both small and large, and I think I'm gonna try those distressed edges on my next build to see how it turns out. I think it looks great!

Hey Max. thanks for sharing! I always have an issue with the residue from the easy tac adhesive when I peel stencils off the wood. Do you ever have any issue with that, and if so, what do you use or recommend to get the residue off without affecting the stain?

does the adhesive leave a sticky film on your board? I've used 7mm adhesive before and i need to do quite a bit of sanding to remove it from the board.

They Both look good Max....I have a Don't Tread on me Stencil but i incorporated it on my Flags... Hi .. Max ,, when you use the ticky tack on your stencil ,, do you clean off the ticky tack ? Or just keep using it ? I noticed the sticky material build up.

Hoping u can answer this promptly as i have orders...my adhesive is transferring to the flag...when i peel it off there is adhesive there.on the wood...how do i remove and prevent it?

I'm wondering the same thing. I watched a few videos and may try goo gone to get all the sticky off. If it doesn't work I'll sand it all off and go back to the drawing board

Max, I am with you. I can't decide which flag I like better. Question: Have you tried the Minwax or Verathane tinted yellow stains? I'm wondering how they would look on this flag.

Yea they both have their own cool look so its a hard decision! I have tried the varathane yellow, i used it on the Arizona flag that i did, i should put some on a sample piece and see how it looks along side this stuff

I personally like the piece with less burn more yellow. So to remove the easy tack from stencil you are using mineral spirits? Didn't come that clean for me.

Thank you for the feedback! Yea it seems to work out for me, i use a rag and i keep adding mineral spirits so maybe that helps, sorry im not sure of any other ways but there could be other ways that may work better

All this wooden flag makers forget to put a finish on the back side. Boards will wrap when finished just on one side.

Do another concealment flag but make it into a box that is easy open and has a rope so the front (flag) doesn’t fling back so it stops at about a 90 degree angle
