This is an experimental home made instrument. It's design is inspired by the regular electric bass and the contrabass.
Tools and materials:
Angle grinder: amzn.to/2E6uLAx
Wire brush kit for drill: amzn.to/2PkCYCl
Jigsaw: amzn.to/2pP39WZ
Wood burner: amzn.to/2pHkAbG
Rasp: amzn.to/2C32JmW
Spoke shave: amzn.to/2E74p1w
Bass tuning pegs: amzn.to/2pGgnoz
Bandsaw: amzn.to/2pHj49v
Bass guitar pickup: amzn.to/2pIyzyc
Bass guitar strings: amzn.to/2C5pbfr
For more information about this project, go here:
scrapwoodcity.blogspot.gr/2016...
For more scrap wood projects, please visit my blog:

I found the wiring diagrams for the pickup here:
www.seymourduncan.com
I also used an online fret calculator to find and mark the fret positions. You can find it here:

you have a loose ground somewhere, try grounding the potentiometers to ground because they can cause ground hum. if it still doesn't go away, replace the input jack and the main volume control on the amplifier. if it still hums, change out the cable with the power off and try a different source.

Nice job! Little tip to remove that buzz from the amp, apply shielding to the control cavity and the underside of the cover with aluminium tape and connect the shielding to ground by using a screw as a crimp. Make sure that whilst applying the strips of aluminium tape, one of the edges from a strip is bent backwards, then applied on the previous strip applied to make a continuous connection between the strips. I use this technique for shielding guitars which i make. True, copper tape is better but using aluminium tape is a cheaper alternative whilst achieving the same goal plus aluminium tape is more available than copper tape :)

I was expecting more positive feedback here in the comments section. Disappointing. Despite all that though, this is a fantastic video. I appreciate you sharing it with us. (Note to commenters: You need materials and machines to craft, all the people in here talking about "How to make this if you have the tools", do you guys expect to make something out of nothing? If you want to craft a bass go learn about what equipment is required and how you can attain it first before you start looking up how to actually design and put together your bass. Some basic wisdom for you. Aside from that, I did think some of the jokes were clever. Lol.)

Cool design from scrap wood. What kind of wood was it? Did you adjust intonation by calculating the exact position of the bridge? Important...... :)
@ScrapwoodCity

Thanks, it's made of spruce. I usually adjust the intonation using harmonics, but don't expect really accurately tuned instruments with a DIY approach!

You need to bring the earth wire to the bridge. Otherwise cool project.

Did you play it a lot in the last three years? How was the round wound strings in a pine fretboard? Really nice project tho.

As usual mate, I love it! Do you usually mark up your work in English or is that just for your viewers? How long did this one take in real time? Incidentally I use your vids for a little music practice while I'm watching - double enjoyment! Cool vid, mate. Really enjoyed this one.

+Mark McCluney thank you very much my friend! I use English for more people to understand. The build took about 8 hours plus blueing time. Thanks again for the support!

+Scrap wood City Blueing time, love it. Hence the I-IV-V for the demo; the bass had the blues built in. From now on i'm going to blue all my stuff too! Great work mate.

Did you put in a grounding wire? I didn't see you do that and it's a pretty essential part if you want to play this bass live and not have 60 cycle hum happening every time you plug it in.

You need to ground the wiring to the bridge. That's likely the source of the hum
@theaxedude1

You should also turn one of the coils of the pickup backwards to create a him canceling effect
@ScrapwoodCity

Actually I think the hum problem is caused from a bad cable and not the wring of the electronics!
