Where have you been all my life??!!! I have rolls of copper wire someone gave me to make jewelry with and I have struggled to get it out of the plastic. I stumbled upon your video while searching for something else! Thank YOU!

Pretty cool concept. I think you could have done 4 sizes with just 2 blades. It would be nice to have a cover over the blades that aren't in use for safety. Also it would be cool to run the wires thorugh some sort of a set of wheels or bearings to strighten it out 1st. Another idea would be to somehow make height of the blades more adjustable over just having different grooves. Maybe put the blades on a gasket of firm but squishable rubber so you could adjust the screws for wire thickness. Just ideas.

Thanks for the tips. I built this on the fly with not much planning really. I'm sure it could be improved in many ways.

Put a small flat screw in front of blades in hole bevel you drilled out then you can raise and lower to keep wired tight against blade you can just pull through vs sitting there on top of it trying to make sure it’s going through
@PhillWyattProjects

Im sure you've considered this but with the blades offset you can just flip them over when its time, to make them last twice as long. Love this idea. Ive seen others that use another board with holes, or a bit of solid strand copper formed into a coil (like a heating element) to act as a guide to feed the wires at the right height. Great video thanks for sharing!!
@PhillWyattProjects
@PhillWyattProjects 4 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes I did think about that although the blades actually last a long time as they don't need to be super sharp to cut through the insulation. Also, it's easy enough to loosen the screws and swap out a blade. I'm planning on making another design soon so there will be a new video for that one.

I street guy did this using utility blades screwed onto a pallet. I was impressed -- until I noticed the mess he left in parking lot, housing shavings & bits of multistranded wires all over. Disgusting mess, so I don't support using utility blades or any knife cutting horizontally.

Yes although it is faster than using a knife. Which is all most people have. I don't get a lot of wire often. If I did I would probably use some kind of machine to strip it.

Far too slow to be profitable. Needs to be Moore of a self adjusting deal to keep the tension against the blade. The concept is there but definitely not a money maker. Now if you could get it to need no help? You could set up and run whole spools even with power... Cool kid project but sorry wouldn't make money.
