How to Make a Dragon head out of EVA Foam! I have always wanted a mounted Dragon head for my game room so now I'm going to make that happen! This is a foam dragon head so it is very lightweight and would be perfect for a cosplay prop, a wall decoration, or a dragon arm puppet. In this part 2 video I am going to cover adding details to the base dragon head by suing Foam Clay. In part 3 I will add a wall mount so be sure to swing back by for that video. I do have Free PDF templates available over on my website incase you'd like to make one too. Hopefully this build inspires you to craft your own Dragon

Personally attempted a "dragon head mount" out of paper mache, as seen in so many KZfaq videos. I felt it was distorted, and one side didn't really mirror the other very well. The teeth were made of the recommended baked clay and looked great, but were VERY brittle; resulting many of them being broken before my project could be completed and therefore; finally abandoned. Your chosen medium seems to give more possibility to both of the problems I have encountered. As seen here, you can adjust (with your very forgiving H-D and foam clay) without adding a lot of weight Besides, Paper mache is a MONSTEROUS heavy accumulation. Your way? I gotta try it. :)

I would agree my foam and foam clay would be much lighter especially for a wall mounted display. Hope you get a chance to try it out and if you do tag me online so I can see your progress 👍

Simply badassical. I'm working on clearing out my work space to get started on this project, and in the meantime am imagining what mounting could look like. I'm thinking of adding a short neck for transitioning to a plaque. It seems like a great place to add a little body character such as muscle definition and additional color. Such a cool project, dude

Just a mask question. Have you ever included ridges or bumps to the inside of masks to raise them from the surface of your skin and increase airflow these could be added to you head mould before casting or another way could be adhesive foam strips that you install into masks. if made firm enough you could sell the strips to cosplayers for them to add to armour and masks lifting it from the surface of the skin and getting airflow. cheers

I use high density upholstery foam on the backsides of masks and armor. It’s lightweight but firm enough to push the pieces out

This is fantastic! Your smithwork with foam is consistently ,genuinely astounding! A pleasure to watch your process. a couple of questions.... does the use of that superglue on the foam still cause the joints to be brittle, as say, with using on 3d prints? And after drying, does the foam clay reactivate with the addition of more water, like when you added the gums around the teeth? Thank you for all you share to the community!
@SKSProps

Thanks you! I haven't ever had bob smith superglue become brittle and it works great with my HD-Foam but that has happened with Zap (I hate zap 😅) After the clay skins over the water doesnt really affect it that is why I give it some time before adding additional layers.
