You put the reel on back wards. You need to put the reel on top of the rod and you use your thumb to slow down the spool so it doesn't get tangled. This kind of reel in real life is called a baitcaster and is for advanced fishers and heavier lures

There’s no eyelet on the reel to direct where the line lays out. The line would just stack up and wouldn’t spread out evenly

The reel is on the wrong way. Its backwards. You'd have to loop your hand around the reel and then somehow not get backlash. It's cool. But it would never work
