Is there anyone in the world who has not at some point wanted to be a knight? Probably not. Here's a chance to make your own knight helmet that looks amazing, and is inexpensive to make.
Now, when you make stuff from scratch, it can be a time consuming process with a lot of trial and error. My goal is to create patterns that just work for you, are as simple as possible to make, and fit well.
I do all the frustrating work so you don't have to!!
There are 6 different sizes included in this pattern, and it is made to print on standard U.S. letter, or A4 sized paper. That means you can just print the pattern right at home, and don't have to worry about scaling the pattern to fit you, or how to print it when it becomes too big for a standard sheet of paper.
I have not included a painting demonstration in this video, but most of my other foam tutorials show how I paint my costumes and what supplies I use, you can see more of my costume tutorials here➜ • Cosplay Tutorial- How ...

Very cool I love all that you do you are so very talented! I need some advice, please. How did you make the cross cutout in the bonus for honor warden helmet? I am struggling to get that fine of a line in foam cut out especially with the rounded ends. Also, do you have the patterns in a cut file? I was thinking I may be able to cut the patterns out on my wife's Cricut to get them perfect. Thank you for all you do yo help us newbies have a wonderful week.
@LostWax
@LostWax 4 жыл бұрын
The crosses are made by using a leather punch for the holes at each end first, and then just a very sharp knife to cut the slit between them. Use multiple passes when cutting. To get it nice and straight you can hold a ruler down and cut along its edge. Hope that helps!! As for cut files, if you email me I can get you files for specific patterns, I don't tend to make them public though. Have a great day!!

@@paulrhodes482 I used Liquitex basics black paint for the base colour- 3 coats, and then DecoArt Americana Decor Metallics "silver" for the metallic colour. Lost Wax Thank you for getting back to me so fast. I’m having a hard time finding sheets of grey EVA foam big enough. Are the 12X18 pieces big enough? I would also like to make a shield and armor so I need big pieces. Can I use white seeing as it’s going to be painted?
@LostWax
@LostWax 2 жыл бұрын
@@starrchild2010 Hi there, the 12 x 18 pieces will be big enough for the smaller 3 sizes of the helmet, for the larger two sizes, one of the pieces won't quite fit on that size foam. You could splice the foam together though. You can use white foam as it will be painted. Hope it goes well for you!

I'm not sure.....My patterns take into account the flexibility of foam and the ability to bend in two different directions at once. Cardboard can only flex in one direction at a time, so I think you will run into problems.

I Love your projects, but why are the plans/patters so costly
@LostWax
@LostWax 6 жыл бұрын
Most people find them really reasonable when you figure how much time it would take to create your own pattern. I try to find the balance between keeping the cost as reasonable as possible, and me being able to make a living off my patterns. If you consider that most of my projects take me between 1-3 months from start to finish working full time, 5-10 bucks for that kind of effort isn't so much to ask is it?

Why don't you use contact cement?
@LostWax
@LostWax 7 жыл бұрын
I used to use it when I was in Australia. I found a contact cement that worked well, and was cheap. Plus, since it was warm, I could always use it outside. Now I'm in Canada, and I haven't found a great contact cement, as well as being stuck inside half the year, so I want to avoid the fumes. I have become used to using hot glue, and now I actually prefer it.

Chris you have great projects but they are expensive (I talk about patterns) please make them free if you made axe shield and mask free why not to make this pattern free
@LostWax
@LostWax 7 жыл бұрын
Hi there, this is a question that comes up from time to time, and as much as it would be amazing if I could just give away all my patterns for free, the reality is that this is my full time job, the only way I make an income, so if I were to give it all away, I wouldn't be able to spend the huge amount of time needed to create these patterns. I like to think that the amount of time and wasted materials you save by not having to create your own patterns by trial and error justifies the small cost of the pattern. Even if you don't want to buy the patterns, I have given you tons of techniques and ideas free in all my tutorials, so you can still make some awesome creations of your own! Here's an interesting thought.... When I made my first top hat from foam, I sold it for around $100. So, if you made two, kept one for yourself and sold one, you could cover the cost of the pattern, and all the materials and still have some cash left over. Just thinking........
