Another tip: if they have something happen to them in their story (like becoming injured) if its brutal enough to make a scar, give them one where they got hurt! And if they have certain things in their past that would be traumatic, give them a long-term trait that would form because of that! And my last price of advice: if your character went through phases, give their design something to do with that (ex: if they were a scene kid, make them like monster energy, or like dinosaur themed things, or make them an invader zim fan!!)

I really feel like starting off my channel making videos where I design characters off the patterned color palettes, they're so inspirational! I feel like if I do that though, it will be like hogging these amazing palettes to myself.

I designed my fursona, Aster today. I got species inspiration from my favorite dragon from the game dragon city, the archangel dragon. For design, i thought of an old oc who enjoyed stargazing, i took that and decorated with star designs, addint a big star on his forehead. Color, i used my stargazing design idea and colored my fursona in three different shades of blue, coloring the stars, horns, and lower jaw in two different shades of yellow, for the wings, i used a mixture of the blue and yellow colors, addin some aqua color at the top of his wings. As for his name, I went with something similar to his design, i absolutely love greek names so i decided to search up a name that meant "Star" which is the name "Aster".

Something that helped me is that you can also pay sure for sewn on your mood or dreams or things like that my fursona Dacota Cloud coyote what's inspired off of me/my dreams I daydream a lot so that's why she has a cloud on her back and why her expression is a mixture between sleepy and happy the brand was really just inspired off of me because I have brown hair so she really represents me a lot PS your fursona can also be a who you want to be as well

My way of designing them is different I make a car in need for speed and translate that into a fursona (or nfs car into a transformers oc which i eventually translate into a fursona)

If It helps, i always color my characters according to their personalities. Imagine an evil, broken character, will you color it yellow?

I have a question! So, I have a fursona (channel icon) and I love her design.. but I wanna make her into a suit. I'm still pretty young, and there's no way I could afford a suit, so I wanna make my own, but I don't know if she will be easy to make as a first suit. I like her design, and don't really wanna change her, but kn other days I feel like I NEED a new design for her. It's a weird connection.. any suggestions?

I'm definitely not an expert, but I would think that your design is not too hard for a fursuit, because it's mainly natural colors and I don't see any special things in that fursonas shape either.

your channel is really underrated :( I'm new in furry fandom and you really helped me with my fursona! I haven't designed it yet, but I will do it soon. I was thinking of a hybrid of a crested gecko with some animal with actual fur (I'm pretty sure that I can make it work)

Practice! Practice drawing once a day. Even if its just a small doodle. Also look for references of animal anatomy! It'll help you understand where to draw what. ^^
