You used 5mm foam for the base and 10mm for the muscle definitions? I like the end result. You built this much differently than I would have. Thank you for the tutorial!

Yeah that is correct! 😊 And thank you! It’s a bit different from the usual method of cutting muscle definition in the back and heating up, but I liked the look 👏👏

@@TheFoamWitch I saw another tutorial on how to make foam abs which involved scoring the backside, apply heat, and then use something hard and round like a marble or ball-bearing to press out the shape. Gluing on templates of the muscle shapes seems like the better alternative for those of us who are not so skilled working with foam. I do like the 3D effect on your model, especially with the beveled edges. Altogether it really pops. Thank you for the inspiration on getting my own project going here 💛

@@chickentv1870 you could totally make your own template! Use the cling wrap and masking tape method I use in some of my videos 😊

Question: i applied the quik seal to smooth some areas out first before using the heatgun to bend the chestplate to shape, was that mistake or do i just need to let it dry and then i can use the heat gun to shape the foam?

@@JoeRoch1818 I can’t say I have done it this way round before, but there may be an issue when bending as the dried quik seal may tear if bringing it a lot. Although, it’s pretty tough stuff so hopefully it will be ok! I would just make sure not to heat it up too much on the actual quik seal as it could bubble/burn but quick passes with the heat gun will be fine ☺️☺️

It’s probably because I only spray it in really thin layers to avoid getting any drips 😂 7 layers the way I use it is probably only like half of these small bottles 👍

@@TheFoamWitch also would you be able to tell me what you set your print margins to so I can try and replicate them? Or the exact dimensions the chest plate came out to? If I can’t have it printed in a home I can take it to a retailer like office max and have them print out the exact size for me

@@AmazngSpidey I honestly just printed it with all the settings it already had. Don’t think I changed anything. But if you look at the settings when printing on pdf and press poster, you can then change the percentage it prints at so it will print over multiple pages and make it bigger/smaller

Just printed over multiple pieces of A4 paper and then stuck together to make the bigger template 👍

How much foam did you use? I don’t have any shops that sell eva foam around where I live so given the cost of shipping and everything I’d rather order the most efficient amount. Great video!

Honestly, I'm not really sure, but it wouldn't have been any more than a 1m x 1m piece, having some left over from that! 😊

It gets easier after a while! 👍 and this probably took a few weeks. I didn’t work on it every day however, just on my days off!

I'm gonna ask here hopefully someone sees this but is there a place to hire people to make stuff like this as much as id love to get into making stuff like this i don't have a garage or any where to safely work on this sorta stuff and i cant do it in my house

Can you explain how it goes wrong? I just printed off the pdf using A4 paper, I think using the poster setting to print it over multiple pages... I can't fully remember though so next time I get on my laptop I will try it again to confirm exactly 😊

@@TheFoamWitch Yeah, I tried printing it in the A4 format on my printer by it keeps printing in four pages, which are printed vertically and with about one inch margins, which I can't seem to get rid of. Also, thank you so much for replying, I really appreciate it.

@@ArrogantDubs Hey! So I just had a look at this for you! When I open the PDF, it has a section on each page. So to print it I used the "size" button and then either press "fit to page" to fill the sheet or "custom scale" and print at about 80% because I'm small. My settings are already set to print on A4. Once the pieces are printed out, you have to line them up like a jigsaw and stick them together to give the full piece. I hope this helps! Let me know if you are still having trouble and I will try and be more help :)

Also, do you heat the foam to make your cuts easier or is it the sharpness of the blade? My foam cuts tend to be….jagged

It’s all about the sharpness of the blade. It’s gotta be super sharp to get clean cuts! If you can keep some super fine sandpaper with you, like 2000-3000 grit, and drag it about 20ish times each side on the sandpaper every now and again, it will keep it super sharp! 👍

Im a bigger guy will the template work? Also I would reccomend with the painting to add some shading it looks very flat. Thats what ill be doing

If you size the template up it will work 👍 And you can paint it however you like! I just wanted to paint it like this and I'm happy with it 😊😊

It’s just called contact adhesive 👍 I get mine from Poly Props but you can get all different brands from all different places! 😊

Im trying this right now and having a lot of difficulty, everything looks like shit and cutting curves is super frustrating

Curves are the worst! The best tip I can give is always make sure your blade is sharp, otherwise cuts will be super messy! But if they are, don't worry, they can always be sanded smooth with a Dremel! I always have to clean my cuts up by sanding them! Don't give up! You got this!!
