Thank you so much love! I'm trying to get better at my camera work, I'm filming a new intro and hopefully some kind of transition scenes once I get through the last of my Etsy orders, I'm also attending Adobe MAX virtual on the 20-22 to learn more efficient ways to film and edit. I'm starting to LOVE the filming and editing part of creation, like almost as much as creating the costume lol

I've made so many petticoats that I'm so sick and tired them. All the gathering and ruffling. But I always find myself watching petticoat videos and I'm also thinking about making another one.... plus a crinoline cage.....lol. The things I do for cosplay and designing.

Can I ask, I'm hoping to make a ball gown with duchess silk, with a lot of 50's fullness. Do you think layers of petticoats will be enough, or do you think I'd need a hoop crinoline underneath as well for support? And any favourite fabrics for the petticoats? Sorry it's a bit random, I'm seriously finding it difficult to find out anything online!
@sdcosplay Жыл бұрын
@@katyb2793 I would definitely do a hoop skirt with at least 1 petticoat. The hoop will keep you from stepping and tripping on your dress. It’ll also give you fullness if the fabric you use is heavy. Heavy fabrics will just flatten a petticoat. If you want to keep your petti lightweight, I would suggest organza or tulle with the big holes in it. The scratchier tulle not the soft one with little holes. You can use crinoline, but that is usually more expensive. Hope this helps.
@katyb2793 Жыл бұрын
@@sdcosplay thank you so much, that really helps a lot! Do you think I could get away with doing a shorter hoop skirt above the knee so it looks more natural? I've heard Dior do this sometimes but...I do not have their expertise lol!
@sdcosplay Жыл бұрын
@@katyb2793 I'm not really sure. If the fabric is light enough, you probably can. But if you want a consistent shape I would go with the longer one

I'll probably be working on Halloween, and that puts me in a tough spot trying to decide what to wear! Most of my costumes don't fall into work attire guidelines. 😅 That said, this dress is going to be amazing and thanks for sharing the build with us! This puts petticoats into some perspective, because I'm always wondering how people get certain shapes for dresses and skirts.

i joined tiktok for some unknown reason, discovered "birates", and was inspired to be a pirate lol so i guess that's what i'm doing for halloween. i already have a couple things (corsets and cool coats to choose from), a friend happened to be getting rid of some thigh-high boots in my size, another friend said i could have her old colorguard sabre, and i have a wool felt sunhat-style hat coming in the mail on tuesday that i'm gonna turn into a pirate hat.

Hello, thank you for your vidéos. Which fabric and type of petticoat is the best to prevent the wind from shaping our legs please ?
@CaseyReneeCosplay28 күн бұрын
You could add 4" - 6" horse hair braid to the hem of an organza petticoat to make it stand out from your legs or wear the petticoat over a hoopskirt

I know this is a year old but can I follow these steps to just add a layer to a petticoat? I bought one but it’s too short and not wide enough in the bottom and I can’t seem to find one big enough around here without paying 40 dollars for shipping alone.

You're just going to want to take their waist measurement and their waist to ankle measurement and using math drape your pattern from there.
