How To Make A Hat Stiff Again / How To Fix Your Floppy Hats Fast And Easy / Easy Tutorial

In this tutorial, I will show you how to fix your floppy hats. It really is simple, all you will need is some starch and a hot iron. I took the 3 floppy, warped hat's that I had and I made them just like new.
I hope that you find this easy fix-it tutorial helpful. I got the starch at Walmart it's called Faultless Premium Starch. This method worked great.

The starch that I used in this tutorial is called Faultless Premium Starch, I bought it at Walmart. It worked great.

Try running under hot water until totally soaked. Then gently stretch out wrinkles. Lay flat on a folded towel on the floor while smoothing out any remaining wrinkles. Then leave to dry. Oh, I flipped the hat inside out first.

What setting did you use on your iron? I didn’t think it was possible to get a straw hat back in shape. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Angie. I used the cotton setting on my iron and I didn’t use any steam. I didn’t realize you could fix the hats either. Thanks for watching😊

I have a vintage straw fedora that I got caught wearing in the rain. It is now as misshapen as your hat with the lace hatband. Thankfully, I did not throw it away, so maybe there is hope for it after all.

How did the hats react to the starch and heat? I noticed you stopped using the material for a heat barrier. I'd be afraid the iron will scorch my hat. I'll use material just incase.

@@shugmagnolia188 it actually worked fine. I was nervous that the heat would scorch the hat and it didn’t. I would use the material just in case though. I was very happy how they came out. Thanks for watching! 😊❤️

What do I do with a floppy straw hat?

I am pretty sure that this method would work on straw. I’m not an expert, so I’m not sure, but it seems like it would. I would only start with a very small area of the hat before you do the whole thing. If you do, can you let me know how it came out? Thank you for commenting. 😊❤️
