This is my latest project, a portable mortiser which will allow me to cut mortise and tenon joints in a fast and convenient way. This is an indispensable tool in every DIY or woodworking workshop.

I'm a professional woodworker and having all the tools for making all types of joints (Maffell doweller, Lamello biscuit jointer and Festool domino jointer), still feel a lot of admiration and respect to the makers of these type of homemade machines. I think this is my favorite execution of a home made slot mortiser! The handle twisting mechanism seems like a great way to go. It would be cool to see another version or attachment that can handle mortising on an angle, like for mothers joined by floating tenons

I really like the idea with the turning handle as it puts the movement force behind the workpiece. This makes the operation more stable than moving far out on the router. However, it also makes the build somewhat complicated.

II bought the drawings a few days ago. Very well formatted. A good example for my students on how to format their work in an understandable way. I plan make them for my school and students. I also try to make 3D printed for myself (with small design changes, of course. Thanks a lot

Superb design, only missing feature is the ability to mortise in the center of a board, for shlves in a furniture piece for example, but I looked for a few home made mortiser and yours is the one that tempt me the most. Ultra functional, but still, seems easy to build.

great concept ! may be you can set the depth stop to the max depth from the get go and control the depth manually as you plunge the router instead of setting the depth 3 times for each mortise.

Yesss, great design. I have just finished making another of your modular benches (I bought the plans about a year ago!). I'm still not sure what pattern to layout my dog holes and haven't decided if I'm going to attach a vice permanently, but I already love the rigidity of it and the functional design. I had a bit of a glue up issue on the first bench, but the second one was much better and easier. It's great to see you back with more excellent ideas.
