When making these is it best to keep the first layer lower so the ice cream scoop melts in the jar and not out of the jar? Hope that makes sense

Yes, because you don’t want the wax melting over the edges of the jar

They sell containers with Dome Lids. I use them for my whipped soaps and the candles fit too
