I have been making Wooden Boxes for almost 20 years and have loved every minute of it. So I hope these videos inspire you to get into box making and create your very own Wooden Boxes.
How to make a keepsake box - this is the most efficient way to make a basic veneered Wooden Keepsake Box. It is also a great gift for a friend or loved one.
Part 7 focuses on cutting for box hinges at the router table. Preparation and patience are key to this task. The last few videos will cover coating the lips, adding bevels, lining the base, polishing screws and adding the hardware.
In future projects I will go into greater detail on how to get perfect grain matches at corners, lock fitting, finishing and much much more.
Regards Ian

Thanks Ian. I’m not really surprised at your attention to detail, (which is second to none) Anything that is ‘the best’ doesn’t just happen, someone has to ‘make it happen’. I have no doubt that your box making skills have evolved since your very first one with the mind set of, how can I improve each and every process of it’s construction on each subsequent box. Thank you very much for sharing your hard earned knowledge, it is really appreciated. I look forward to purchasing your hardware in the future having just completed my first box and now fully aware of some of the many pitfalls in the pursuit of making them anywhere near as good as yours. Regards, Peter Sheffield

Yes having a passion for detail and always wanting to improve is the way froward, never settle for that will do if it can be improved the next time around! that's how we evolve!!

Fantastic video Ian, I’ve had a little alignment problems in the past with the hinges. This really helped. So nice to get information from someone who knows what they are doing and worked out the kinks. Thanks again.

Wow what a fantastic episode Ian so many great tricks and tips . I’ve got a set of stainless Neats Elites I bought from you months ago and am so pleased i didn’t rush onto using them before seeing this! One tip in return if I may be so bold.. I bought a set of metric slip gauges second hand on eBay and find them incredibly useful for all kind of set up and measurement. They’re more accurate than digital calipers and can measure over 300mm to +/- 20 microns!
