Most outdoor type guys develop certain crafts that they are good at. It is readily apparent when you watch a craftsman, what his skill level is. You are a master craftsman with the Kydex knife sheath. Thanks for showing us your craft. That is what You Tube is all about. Be well.

Purchase a temp gun. Heat the kydex up to 325°. Also heat up your foam with a heat gun a little bit. You will definitely get a great press/ form if you do these few steps.

Weep holes were a cool addition. I have watched at least 30 kydex sheath videos and you are first one to do that. Makes perfect sense, you usually see drain a hole in leather sheaths , and kydex is a lot more water holding.

Also, you can make a drain channel thru the sheath tip by splitting the end of a bamboo skewer & fitting it over the point of the blade before pressing.

10:37 I'm still learning about pressing kydex and this is great tutorial for a beginner lime me. But the moves you do at 10:37 are the same I do when I make a pita or tortilla wrap that I grilll in the Panini press. You have to put your piece in there and hold it until you close the lid, but pull your fingers before they are part of your meal or sheath. That's Jedi master level 3 stuff.

I noticed your press doesn’t clamp in the back. How does it form to the tip of the blade like that ( with little pressure in the back) ? Thanks. BTW your sheaths look really nice. I’ve used 4 pipe clamps on mine with a loose hinge on the back to press everything down and mine don’t come out near as nice as yours. I think I’m not getting hot enough

My foam took the impression of the sheath I made. Is it possible to remove this impression?

It shouldn’t affect the sheath much I’ve made around 700 sheaths with my original set of foam

Greetings from Austria.... Great video. Do you have some advice? I want to make a sheath for a fox knife, the parang. The front is bigger than the grip.... How do you do that?

Great video. I’m looking for an alternative to leather and this looks like an option. Crazy idea, do you think I could drill holes and NOT use the rivets but instead use the thread I would use on leather? A hybrid solution? Thanks.

Is that a thermometer on top of the oven? I was thinking I need one. Not sure my thermostat is accurate.
