We were doing this back in the early 90's as kids when riding lawnmowers became rather common to make go-karts, those 20+HP engines worked a LOT better than a little 5 or 6HP engine.

Oh damn....I found this video first in 2018 when i also got a lawn tractor and you helped me out! Mine still lives and i also got a turbo on it wich loads about 7 pounds. Glad i found this video again!

Have fun and Don't kill yourself, I like that Advice!! I like what you have going on there. I am also into Rodding these things. I have a 12 Horsepower Break m and Scrap m on one of mine. I am close to finishing up my most recent build. It's based on an old 165 Hydro John Deere. I have a 5 Speed with a variable Speed pulley System as well. 24 Horsepower Kohler V Twin engine. Your right, there are easy to Flip. Keep the greasy side down and the shiny side UP!!

I like the Scoop, I am doing a Ram Air on mine with Duct Work under the Hood directly into the Fan. I never understood why they don't do it from the Factory because you're recirculating the so much of the heat back into the fan under the Hood. My project is a part time thing, I have to get the 1959 Chevy Apache that I am doing for an old customer of mine done so I work on my Lawn Pro at night in the living Room. I also have Two more Tractors coming in. One of them is going to a friend of mine who just got a place with a Big Yard. Looks like you are doing pretty good with this Rat Rod Tractor Gig, Keep Having Fun!!

I just removed the headlights off of mine and added a exhaust pipe with a muffler welded to the end and I have it sticking out of the headlight hole,touched the side of the motor while at 3/4 throttle after letting run for 25 minutes and it feel warm probably about 80or 85 degrees but not burning hot

Trust me you do want a tether kill switch it saved my best friends atv once he was riding and his throttle stuck he hit a huge rock and flew off his atv stoped 3 feet before a 10 feet deep pond

All mowers have a killswitch on the seat, just hook it back up if unhooked.

Lol dont need a tether switch on newer ones bc it shuts off if you leave the seat.

He have older mower. Some older mower do not have it yet.

For the carburetor you need to clean it the float is stuck in the bowl that's why it's leaking

If you overthrottle your engine the engine block will crack.... I learned that the hard way when my dad was playing around with the governer on my tractor...

Riding lawnmowers don't have a gas peddle. They use the same type of throttle you see on a self moving push mower (you've likely seen one that goes from turtle to rabbit) and there is also a mechanical governor on them that adjusts as either the blades are put under power or lowered as you apply the break.

*** governor mod*** Motor isnt made to run full throttle for long periods, it will blow the motor. Especially if it has a lot of wear on it.

Yea, I've wondered about that on all these pulley change, speed modification videos I've seen. In watching yours, I could see how jittery the steering wheel was. Although you were able to handle it just fine, I've wondered if anyone has tried replacing the rather primitive, overly simple geared steering assembly in mowers with a steering sector from a small car. Many, many years ago, I changed out the old original non-power steering sector to a power steering sector on my 76 Jeep CJ-7. In doing that, I learned how a steering sector worked & at that time, I started wondering about speeding up lawn mowers, but using a sector in place of those overly simple steering gears used in a riding lawn mower. Since you're not dealing with near the weight of a vehicle, I'd think a steering sector (powered or not) would help stabilize the steering & control of the modified mower quite a bit once you get it adapted in place of the original setup. Just a thought I've had since the 90's.

So I fully ungoverned my 1994 craftsman LT4000 and ran it for about a day and now it won't start and you can clearly hear a knocking sound, so if anyone has any suggestions for how I could do it next time, that would be greatly appreciated.

Whell if you drive you car around all day in first gear at full throttle it will probably blow to. You need to be smart with things like this.

Comparing the mini bike engine to the Briggs engine as pertaining to removing the governing is a bad comparison. Two completely different engines and you even said you didn't rev the mini bike much. In my experience with removing governors from Briggs and Tecumsehs, the engine blew up. You should have focused on a pulley swap, not removing the governor. You never actually said if you did a pulley swap or not.

I did and now it has a different carb with no govenor and still running happy but the tecumseh don't seem to last as long as I have blown up one already.

He did stated clearly in the video to "SWAP" the pulley, to SMALLER.
