Awesome informative video. Others should learn from you how to do this right. No gimmicks no superficial info, no hard selling. All that isn't necessary. Help people first and we will buy. See now I'm going to buy your business book and possibly more with just your one plug for it. Thanks so much!

this is awesome and a companion to your books Business for Authors, How to Make a Living With Your Writing and How to Market a Book! I have all three in audio form. Is there a download link for this video? I'm blind, so I'd be using this as a podcast episode. Maybe you could do videos on podcasting.

What is the expense for having an audiobook done?
@thecreativepenn
@thecreativepenn 7 жыл бұрын
It will depend on the length of the book - usually around $150 - $300 per finished audio hour - so a 6 hour audio (around 60,000 words) would be about $1200 at $200 per finished hour - but it's based on the book and the narrator's rate

Okay J.F., Thanks for the Video. But I must confess that this title was a bit tricky for me. At first I couldn't figure out where you were going with it, but now I see clearly how it turned out. But a quick one: I want to know if Draft to Digital has its own platform for selling eBooks apart from being an aggregator to other channels like kobo etc. In other words, can I upload my book on D2D and deselect all the other distribution options. Thanks.
@thecreativepenn
@thecreativepenn 2 жыл бұрын
D2D now has their own store through Smashwords, but it is mainly a distributor.

I am that writer that just wants to write and leave the marketing to someone else. How many people are doing that and can you point me the direction to hire someone for the job. Thanks
@thecreativepenn
@thecreativepenn 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tonya, it's best to go the traditional publishing route then. Check out literary agents in your genre. You can also hire marketing and PR people if you go the indie route - try www.TheCreativePenn.com/reedsy

I'm discovering that self publishing is very expensive especially if you're on a low income as I am . How long would you say would it take to generate an income from scratch?
@thecreativepenn
@thecreativepenn 3 жыл бұрын
It's not expensive compared to any other business. It totally depends on what you're writing, how many books you write, how you market and many other factors. More here - thecreativepenn.com/makealiving/

I think to whom you market your book to has a derogative impact. For instance the children sector is absolutely saturated and is far more competative. Cook book's are the same, so I'd like to add that focusing on your niche' is the most important factor to whom your audience are going to be. You've really got to get your thinking cap on would be my advice to people wanting to make a living from writing.

50:23 This is easier for those who want to write stories or self-help books. For those who want to write controversial and politically incorrect non-fiction, there is a problem...
