How To Make a Magic Bottle Holder - Floating Houdini Bottle Holder - Beginner DIY Project

In this video I show you the three easy steps to making an awesome floating bottle holder, it is so simple!
I worked out a few basic principals, if you follow those then you will have no trouble making your own.

UPDATE: I used your specs EXACTLY - using Scots pine @ 90 mm wide + 45 mm thick. It's rock solid. Definitely the best tutorial for these on YT!

Nice quick project, and thanks for calculating the angle for us. I always wondered with these if they only work if the bottle if mostly full

I wondered the same thing. I should have mentioned in the video that my design worked with both wine and spirit bottles that have different shapes. Both styles of bottles continued to balance after one or two drinks had been emptied, you just change how far you stick the bottle in the hole. However, once the bottle is below half full it wont work anymore, that just means you need to finish the bottle off and grab another! hahah

Great video However my sample of a 33 degree cut off my protractor came out much more of a severe angle than your.... 33 degree bevel cut Wonder what I did wrong Still mastering that sweet spot Thanks

Nice work. Look great. Can I suggest testing with an empty bottle of Bush Chook next time? What do you get for them at markets?

hahah thanks mate. The pricing is one of the great things about these, because they are so quick to make and you can use scraps they don't cost much but your pricing can fluctuate depending on where you are trying to sell them. People will generally pay between $10 to $25 for one of these.

Is the 40mm hole drilled at an angle??

Hi mate, nope. Drill the hole straight through the timber, the only angle you need to worry about is the cut at the base. Cheers

Hi Oz, I am wanting to make some floating bottles for the grandkids, BUT I'm wanting to use the miniature bottles, have you any idea how I will go about this for ballance. I have tried several ways and failed. Any idvice would be appreciated. Thank you ;-)

Hi James, great question. I dont have the answer but my advice would be to make a bottle holder (as above) and then cut 10mm off the bottom. Try that and if it doesnt work, take another 10mm off and keep going until you find the sweet spot. Good luck ✌🏼
