Spot on. The sound is extremely annoying to me as well! I still have a rather large pad but its slowly disintegrating... Saved for future reference 😉

Ooh yeah, that would be cool! Maybe try the quilting section at your local fabric store, that's usually where you can find lots of (animal) prints. Plus, quilting fabrics can be bought in smaller pieces, so you don't have to buy a whole meter for one mousepad ;)

The trick is to cut through all layers. There must be glue where you cut, or otherwise the fabric will be frayed.

Pretty sure thats how fabric mouse pads are made anyway. I would sew the corners to stop the fabric from fraying out.
