This will just make the thorium more radioactive. It's more like a pile of radioactive material interacting than a reactor because there isn't really control or a way to get power. Nonetheless, I suppose it is cool that you can produce unhealthy amounts of radioactivity. I sense a darwin award coming.

Absolutely no fission occurring here. The reason it became more reactive over time was due to the use of purified radium. Radium will have a lowered activity after being chemically extracted because its daughter's products will be removed. Activity will then appear to increase with time because this daughters build back up from the decaying radium, increasing the samples overall activity

1. old lantern mantles blow torch to a powder 2. Mix powder with lithium from battery’s and wrap in aluminum foil 3. Heat in tin can with cooking oil Now you have pure radioactive thorium Step 2 Build neutron gun 1. Get lead block some aluminum foil and some americium from old smoke detectors Step 3 1. Take hand from old clock and dip it in solvent Now you have radium Step 4 Take the americium and radium and put in foil Step 5 Put thorium and charcoal put them in aluminum foil and make a bunch of small blocks Step 6 Make one big block out of the small blocks and duct tape it together then put another small block on top and put 2 cobalt drill bits and seal it Now you have a nuclear reactor to make plutonium and uranium so you can make nukes

Nuclear reactors dont make power. They make heat. You need a boiler to make steam from it in order to spin a turbine that generates electricity. Nuclear power plants are simply glorified steam powered turbines. You could take a nuclear reactor’s turbine generator and plug it to a coal powered boiler instead. The nuclear fission is only the method in which the heat for steam is produced Coal, oil, gas, and nuclear power plants all make electricity by producing steam for a turbine.

Thorium isn't radioactive under most circumstances. The uranium and plutonium isotopes produced as part of the thorium fuel cycle cannot be used in weapons effectively. We tried to use the particular uranium isotope, U-233, in nukes back in the 60's, it didn't work.

You could but this is what’s called a “subcritical reactor” meaning there is not enough fuel or the fuel is not enriched enough to start a nuclear chain reaction if there was the moment you put it together a blue flash would shot across the room due to chenkov radiation and every living thing within a few miles would instantly die(I’ll let you read up on that yourself) however subcritical reactors can fission thourum atoms to produce heat but not much I don’t recommend trying to build an actual working fission reactor as you WILL kill yourself and radiation poisoning sucks read up on what happens to hissachi ouchi the most radioactive man in history if you wana know about radiation poisoning
