Hey guys, today I'm going over what a lightbox is and how I make them. Hope you enjoy.

i made one of these for a friend as a christmas present, it was Harry Potter themed and she liked it a lot, i used laser cut thick paper, same as you, used foamboard that i cut by hand using a cutter, i glued the layers with double sided sticky tape and LED strip for the light then framed it together using a store bought deep frame, turned out well, so well in fact that i made a 2nd one for myself , same image, since i had the parts cut 2 times just in case i made some mistakes the first time

Thank you so much. I don't currently but I will in the future. I'm planning on setting up an online store and selling them there, I just have to figure it all out

@@lightboxlifewhat type of paper do you use? and what is the grammage of your paper (gsm)

@@gilang9451 I don't have a specific brand of paper, I just use whatever cardstock they have at Walmart. But the thicker the paper the better. You can usually buy a big package in the office section. I believe my paper is usually 80 GSM but I'll have to double check. You can even try watercolor paper but you have to make sure you have strong enough lights

It's just a samsung tablet. It's one of the more expensive ones but the cheaper ones work fine as well.

hi! for the cardstock paper what is the gsm that you used? i searched up cardstock paper but i got overwhelmed huhu idk which to choose;(

Hey, Im currently using 176 GSM and it's 65 lbs paper, but I always use different ones. It doesn't matter too much as long as it's not too thin or thick like watercolor paper.

How do you seperate the pictures into layers?

You take your picture and to figure out where you want the layers to be you have to look at the picture and see where the parts of the image are seperate, if that makes sense. For example you have a picture of trees. The tree closest to the camera will be on a layer. The trees behind it will be another. The trees behind that will be another. Etc.

But how did you separate them and make them layers? Does your tablet just do that for you?

No. You have to seperate it in your head and look at the picture in a way where you can pick it apart. If you can look at the picture and visualize the depth of it it becomes easy. I don't know how to describe it exactly cause I'm used to looking at things from that perspective so it seems natural. There might be some app or program to seperate images but if there is I've never heard of it.

And if I have it visualized I can copy it onto paper and make the layers easily. Hope this helps!😁
