In this tutorial I demonstrate how to make a paracord water bottle wrap using the chain sinnet method.
I first seen this style made by David Hopper and I modified it a bit.
This style of water bottle holder has a number of distinct advantages:
- it can be made directly from a hank of paracord- no measuring required
- it is quick deployment ready, meaning that it can be unraveled extremely quickly
- it holds a large amount of paracord.
It also has an eye pleasing look!
I used a cord lock to secure the cord around the neck of the bottle.
It is not required, I just find it functional.
A photo tutorial on this paracord water bottle wrap can be found here:

Beautiful work! This knotting technique is also known as ''crochet.'' A crochet hook sized to match the paracord, and working off the bottle after first sizing the draw-cord, allows this project tot be made in about 30 minutes or less for a crocheter. :)

I really like this one better than the first bottle holder I saw a few days ago. It covers more of the bottle and it seems a little bit easier.

a great idea for Mariners. to leave this outside to become flotsam in the event of capsize/ sinking. once untied you will have the length of paracord...plus the inner strands X3 to secure extra flotsam to make a buoyant fortitude for waiting until rescue arrives. great stuff. thank you

Hey there! Indeed you can start at the bottom as well. You start lining up half hitches in a circle, then transition into the chain sinnet/crochet pattern. Mark

Hello ! Just wanted to ask you if the wrapping makes the bottle stable ? i've seen in another tutorial that you used a ring on the bottom of the bottle. I suppose it's done to make the thing more stable, isn't it ? Anyway, is it possible to put a ring in this wrapping ? Thank you ! Good job.

@Paracordguild
@Paracordguild 9 жыл бұрын
Morgan Block I always advise to make a row or two and extrapolate from that. It depends on how much you tighten and the actual flask as well. Don't be afraid to splice in more cord if you run out! I did a video on the technique here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h69leZqpyN7ZYIk.html Mark

+nadja vulkan Hey! It is hard to make an accurate guess. Because of the way it is made, you don't have to cut a length to get started. I'd just get a 100 foot hank and work from that. Mark

Little update and tip: you actually need a LOT of rope to do this. I used 15 meters of 3mm rope and I didn't even reach halfway my regular sized bottle. (about 10-12 cm in height). For a full high bottle you'll need about 25-30 meters. Crazy! Anyways I have half a bottle wrap now lol.
@Paracordguild

Indeed, wraps often take quite a bit of cord to make! Half a bottle is now almost bulletproof :).

Yeah, this needs a lot of nuance and finite knowledge of how to weave and experience doing such to really be informative. For us beginners, this is like calculus to someone who just learned how to add. Needs a LOT more explanation of the length of loops and why and how to orientation of the loops should be and it's just lacking in this video to be of any real help.
