Looking forward to that video! I just was thinking about making one myself! Incra is good, and accurate, but even 8" long pieces for frames kind of (ok, REALLY, RRALLY) scare me! 3000rpm, 60ish dull carbide teeth within 3 inches of my hand....

Couple of ideas to upgrade and make the jig more complete: a) number the holes, so no counting necessary, less chances of errors b) in the center piece you can set a threaded rod, fix in one side and with a knob in the other to do the tightening without clamps. Loved the disco-workshop bit!

I was going to suggest numbering the holes, but I didn't even think of the threaded rod idea. Nice. A few extra pieces of hardware on the holts can also improve the setup a little. As it is, the raw wing nuts will cut into the wood when tightened, and might fall off when loose. Adding washers to the top will keep the wing nuts from digging in. Adding washers to the middle will make the movement a little smoother. And replacing the wind nut with a hex nut and an acorn nut, tightened against each other, will keep the bolt in place but allow it to be loose enough for the wood to move. I'd also recommend replacing those carriage bolts with some plain hex-head holts, and adding washers to the bottom, inside the counter sinks. That will help the wood to move freely while the bolts and nuts stay firmly locked to each other.

Numbering holes is a good idea, but clamp method is much faster. Also, it keeps the jig in two halves for easier storage.

That or you could just close the jig so that the holed pieces are aligned next to each other. Then it’s easy to just use the same hole on both sides

Very nice! I bought so many picture framing jigs but none of them work right. This may be the solution. Tip - Number each hole so its easy to slot and re-slot without counting holes. I like the Dewalt clamps, nicely made and they hold their grips. I can't stand the Irwin clamps. Cost does not matter. You should not curse when you use them, you should smile. Note: Dewalt and every other brand, the rubber caps come off or degrade with use. Glue them in place from the start so you don't lose a rubber grip. For gluing metal to almost any other material, including rubber, nothing comes in better rated than Loctite ultra-gel glue ($4.49, Amazon) - be sure it is the blue bottle for GEL not red bottle for LIQUID. For wood working, use Titebond II (interior) or III (exterior), best PVA wood glue there is.
