The details you provide are "A+," so many videos say the exact same thing, you are the first to open the cup, give details of hand/fingers. What is slip defined was helpful. Many thanks. Mona

What a great idea to include sequential cross sections to demonstrate progression of the 'pinching' process. Excellent video! Thank you for this!

Cutting it in half to show us how it looks on the inside during the process is really helpful! Thank you so much. ☺️🙏🏻

Wow this was so straight forward and concise! I appreciate the demo with the glass cup! I’ve been pinching all wrong ): lol but I’m excited to get back in the studio and practice with my new knowledge! Also loved the music choice. Thank you!,

Heres an idea, follow the process up to 3:22 and then repeat, making a second pot of the same size. Score and slip both rims and attach them. Now you have a hollow vessel to make anything with! I remember this from my senior year pottery class.

Just started working with clay and I'm very excited to start following your tutorial. A couple of questions: 1) What kind of clay are you using? 2) If air dry, what kind do you suggest? I looked at a lot of reviews online, but they were very inconsistent, especially how much they may or may not crack as they air dry.

I'm using Archie Bray Clay Stoneware, Cone 10. I don't recommend any air dry clay. hahhaa. sorry

Such a great video! Thank you! Instead of pinching, can you cut the clay into pieces and stick them together to make the shape you wanted, like a square shape pot?

Thanks for this! Can you share what kind of clay is best for pinching pots that you want to fire, glaze, and use to drinking etc?

For drinking, I like mid range - high fire clay bodies that fire to Cone 5 or hotter. This is a Cone 10 clay body I'm using.

If you don't have a banding wheel, lazy Susan. or anything, you can just use a small paper plate. It actually works shockingly well.

Great tutorial - my instructor won't let us use water yet because we are in the beginner class. It's been rough, because the clay cracks. He also said "the clay should be paper thin" and then my pot collapses because it was too thin. 0_0 why.....
