How to Make a PLANNER using Canva | Easy tutorial

Here's how to make a planner using Canva: a great tool you can create and custom to be more organized, save time and achieve your goals. In this tutorial, I'll be creating a monthly planner with a table of contents and hyperlinks that redirect you straight to your daily, weekly, or monthly tasks (or any other page: feel free to adapt it to your own needs!) We'll be designing from scratch on a free A4 document format, some of the elements I'll use are Pro but there are always free options you can choose from. You can follow these easy steps right away but before you start, I'll give you a few tips on what you'd need to have at hand. I hope you enjoy it!

You have a few options to do that. I’d probably go for a PDF version. So download your planner as a PDF, then upload it somewhere like Dropbox or Google Drive, generate a link for that file from the platform you chose, and add this link to your thank you page after the opt-in.

Love this tutorial! I do have a question: If you are planning on selling the planner digitally or having it printed, why can't use you use the Canva template for the calendar if you customize it with your own fonts, colors and illustrations? Is that still not allowed?

Hi Candace! No, the Creator who designed the template holds the copyright of the template so you don't have the right to re-sell it. Even if you change fonts, colors, content... You need to be the creator of an original design, so you hold the copyrights to sell it.

Amazing Video!!!! loved it, very informational and extremely helpful! one question I do have is how are you supposed to type in the planner it only lets me use the hyperlinks but I can't type in the goals page or the weekly planner page... did I miss a step? or am I supposed to do something else?

To be able to type, you need to add some interactive text boxes to the pdf. You can do it with a free platform called pdfescape.com

Are there things to know on how to make it interactive yet make it where people can't change your design? @@TeamRonDi can you clarify will the hyperlinks work outside of Canva in side of a digital note taking app like Good notes? Or do the hyperlinks only work within Canva? Im Wondering if that what others mean by making it interactive? Others YT'ers are reporting that the hyperlinks in Canva on work in Canva and you bypass Canva hyperlinks and just export to PowerPoint and add links there. Thought?

if i am going to make the planner with spiral bound, i should leave a bit more space for that correct? FOr example, holes will be punch on right side of the paper, so i should move my designs to the Left side a bit more ?

Yes, you are correct :) Make sure that if you are printing the paper on both sides, the spacing should be on the right on one side and on the left on the other side. I'd suggest to try it out printing 1 page (both sides) to check that everything is working as it should before printing the whole planner ✨

Hi Aik, You could create the digital binders using shapes or try to find elements in canva that can work for that. For the horizontal planner, go to the homepage > create a custom size doc > enter width 1920 and height 1080.

You have several options to duplicate an element: - copy/paste it (ctrl C / ctrl V) - use the duplicate button - hold the shift key and drag your element

How do you manage your canva project if it's too huge, since it's a yearly planner and making it very complete can make you have around 100 pages?

Hi Vaishali, This is a great question! Indeed you cannot create more than 100 pages :( In this case, you'll need to create 2 different pd in canva, download them. Merge both pdfs, you could use this platform: www.adobe.com/acrobat/online/merge-pdf.html Then, you could follow any of the steps mentioned here to hyperlink the pdf: blog.eversign.com/create-hyperlink-on-a-pdf-document/ Hope this workaround helps!

Do you have a tutorial on how to design a digital yearly planner? I started making one but Canva won't let me add more pages because it's too long. I was trying to do Monthly/Weekly/Daily style for busy business owners. Any advice?

I followed your tutorial & created a planner for 2022 with hyper links and downloaded the PDF Standard file. However, the hyperlink does not work on the downloaded doc. So, how do we use this document if the hyperlink does not work 🤷🏽‍♀️

The hyperlinks should work if you download your doc as a PDF. I believe there's a limit to 20 links per document though, did yours have more than 20 links?

This video was very useful. I followed the steps. However, the hyperlinks that direct to the pages within the PDF did NOT work for me. Am I missing something? I have a 50 page Recipe book that I wanted to created hyperlinks for so clients can easily find recipes. Please help. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. :(

I believe you are limited to 20 hyperlinks to internal pages per document, that might be the reason why.

Hi! I'm hoping you can help me answer a Canva question. Maybe you already have a video on it that I haven't seen yet! So I'm creating a digital planner on Canva that has elements linked to different pages on every single page. They are all connected. Such as, every page has a "Jan-Dec" tab to hyperlink to that section just like a regular journal. However, because of Canva''s page limit, I had to split it into 2 separate projects which I will then merge together. But now the pages in the 2nd project are disconnected from the ones they need to link to from the first. Any ideas on how to solve this? I've been researching everywhere and haven't found anything that works Any insights or resources would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance =]

Hi Tuuli, Some people use these digital planners on apps like GoodNotes in which having the hyperlinks comes really handy and you can digitally handwrite on the document. Another form to type on you PDF would be to create fill out boxes with this platform: www.pdfescape.com/ Finally, you can skip the hyperlink section of the video and print your planner to have it on paper. Hope this answer brings some clarity ✨
