I put some blue pond dye in the pond and it looks amazing! Not only does it look great, the dye keeps algae growth down as well as aquatic plant growth along the sides of the pond. I highly advise it!

Good stuff! I have about 3/4 acres pond about 18-20 feet deep use this stuff every spring. It creates a 2 feet deep layer on the top of your pond and prevents sunlight reaching in your pond and ultimately prevents algae and weeds growing. Totally harmless for fish and wildlife to drink, odorless and after 24 hours won’t stain anything. It will fade eventually and you will need to reapply next spring but it’s totally worth the money

@@IndyFarmLife Thanks for your reply. In my mind, the reason for the proliferation of algae growth along the shore is due to weak currents/wind velocities and the presence of a rich amount of nutrients. The subtle interplay between these two is what determines the growth of algae.

Went right out after seeing this and bought Midnite Blue pond dye. Supposed to be enough for a 1 acre pond, 4 ft deep. My pond is 1/8 acre, 10 ft deep at the center. Poured entire bottle in and it was magic. The dye dispersed, disappeared and has not been seen again. Not sure why it didn't work and apparently just sunk leaving me $40 bucks lighter and with muddy water.

@@IndyFarmLife Thank you for your quick response. As I was watching the pond this morning it hit me, I wonder if the aerator I'm running 24/7 can be stopping it from dying the surface water. It pumps water from the bottom of the pond to the surface continually and I'm sure the dye isn't coloring all of the water beneath the surface.
@Longhorn-s7z
@Longhorn-s7z 3 жыл бұрын
@@IndyFarmLife 2nd bottle went in today with the same results. The dye would not flow into the water evenly but stays close together. I read an article that talked about clay particles being in the water. If that's the case, the article said the dye will simply latch onto the clay and drop to the bottom without dying the water. Bummer!

@IndyFarmLife
@IndyFarmLife 2 жыл бұрын
The dye actually has more benefit than just aesthetics. It will limit the amount of sunlight that can penterate the water, in turn reducing algae growth. Reduced algae growth/blooms translates to increased oxygen levels for fish and other wildlife. By adding the dye, we are improving the ecosystem of the pond.

@IndyFarmLife
@IndyFarmLife Жыл бұрын
It won't dye the shoreline unless the dye itself is placed on shore. I.e. get it out in the water and you will be fine. I now put all mine in via a small flat bottom boat. I bet I have gone through 15 gallons of that since I've had the pond. Awesome stuff, and that brand is the best value I have found. Air in the pond makes a huge difference. What you are seeing in this video is most of it sitting in the top 5ft. Now with air, it looks like that for about a day and drops off after putting in all 2.5 gallons.
