I followed several different tutorials for a spline and this is the only one that works perfectly. Thank you!

So happy to hear that this video worked for you and that you found this tutorial valuable. It is a bummer that others didn’t work for you.

Sorry. I realized I commented above from the wrong account. I am hoping to post new and updated content on this channel soon working i UE5. 🤞

Super helpful! Thanks! Love how it automatically slices the last bit of fence instead of rounding to the nearest mesh.

Exactly what I was looking for. Not sure why people are overcomplicating it now with PCG
@cginerdunrealengine396911 күн бұрын
You are very welcome. I think people are using PCG now because of efficiency and optimization. This works but depending on the game you are making it might be beneficial to get that extra tiny bit of performance.

Great video! To get an acurate measurement of the spline overall to your mesh's length, you need to set the For Loop's last index to be the Truncated integer minus 1. Otherwise it will overshoot by a fraction (ie the last mesh will be slightly stretched). I also suggest instead of clamping the vector for the tangents, you instead Normalize the value and then multiply it by the length. This provides a more accurate tangent that will work with every mesh and avoid distortion.

This is going to come in extremely handy. My plan is to use this with invisible walls to create boundaries for where I don't want players to enter (jump off map, into water, etc). Thanks again!

Just a follow up.... made a simple flat mesh (very tall and narrow) for use as my invisible wall and added a "set visibility" node in the blueprint right after the "set forward access". It's working perfectly. When placing these down, I'm going to set the visibility to on (promoting to variable to make it easier) simply because I don't want to struggle ensuring it's placed right in the game. Thanks again for the AWESOME tips here.

Hello there, thanks for this tutorial but I am stuck & need your help please. How does one edit this fence which we have created in the construction script in the PCG Graph itself? I want to pass a small path through this fence using the difference node but I don't know how to edit the fence in my PCG Graph :(

Doesn't work with curbs. Cannot turn and transition points all wrong. I will continue to do it manually...1980 year method.

thank you for the easy explenation, but dont you think this spline tool should be a default already set within unreal, just drag and drop the element to the viewport and add the mesh, call it a spacing tool for exemple like in 3ds max, it would be easier then going through all the nodes since not everybody will be famiuliar with it...

awesome tutorial, thanks! What can I do to make it so the fence doesn't curve? So branches at hard angles like a fence does.

When I follow is smushed up real small along the X axis. Thoughts? I've triple checked that I followed exactly, and that the mesh length is correct

Ve-e-ery bad idea: using static meshes instead of ISM/HISM will ruin as Hell all the performance.
