As a fursuit maker I had a heart attack when you just _starting gluing fur down_ but it turned out great! If anyone wants to sew in markings (for a solid, even color without sacrificing softness that paint just can't do) definitely check out some fursuit making tutorials. I use the tape pattern method! Works wonderfully ^^ just be careful when peeling the tape off the mask, it likes to peel up some of the paper in my experience!

@@GreyEquineOfficial You don't sound rude at all! Unlike most fabrics, faux fur has very very little stretch (there is stretch fur out there, but it's *very* expensive). So, just draping a flat piece of fur over a curved shape usually doesn't go well, and you end up with wrinkles. I really don't know how it turned out so well in this video!

For ppl who dont know how to not have the paint in clumps this is some ways to prevent that you could use a air brush if you have one but if you dont then put some water in a cup than put paint in the water but it can only be a few drops of water or the water will make the mask really really wet and you cant use it after if you put to much water in the paint but i highly recommend an air brush if you have one it will help a lot trust me I'm a professional mask maker

i been looking for a tutorial like this for a while because i am trying to make a really good looking mask for my sister for her birthday as one of her gifts i am going to be giving her early cause idk when the next time i will be able to see her, i might give this out a try and see how it turns out with the felt and the left over cat mask i have i am going to be using to create my own different kind of mask out of.

@@Clenentime616 I wouldn’t recommend Hobby lobby, mainly because it’s conservative. Michaels works well too, and Howl fabrics for high quality fur.

@@aeriisonpaws oh ok! Yes I’ve only seen fur from hobby lobby and I couldn’t remember the names of other place! But the felt at hobby lobby is very cheap! Abt 25 cents a piece (where I live)

I don’t make masks, fursuits, or anything like that. I make goofy little projects here and there. For painting, an alternative that can work is chalk pastels. You do need a whole bunch of layers tho. It keeps the fur soft, the downside is it could ‘bleed’ if you aren’t rubbing it in/getting rid of the excess. And if not sure abt it getting wet. Make sure to do test strips on what your using beforehand so you can get some practice in^^

Expensive for these reasons I believe: the amount of supplies, using a whole big sheet of fur for only 1 mask - 7 dollars - the labor - the talent (it’s hard to find people with such amazing talent) + Eva foam + felt + a TON of hot glue + the wiring + shaping & sculpting the snout, ears , etc , the thick elastic.- how much time it takes to make masks like these - plus it’s not messy like other masks where you can see all the dried hot glue and cardboard & foam sticking out , ( also the amount of REALISM put into these masks) hope that helped why masks like these are so expensive :D🐾🪶🍂🍁

Hi, I know this is very late but can you not fur the entire mask? Like use felt for the whole face and only fur the sides and be able to follow how you glued the fur down but with felt? If anyone knows I’d also appreciate it :) thank you!!

Usually paints like acrylic can do that, but it depends on the length of the fur, If you're worried about it I'd recommend using chalk pastels and a brush, kind of like makeup^^ It tends to fade, but you can seal it using hairspray

Hi! I just learned that my friend is a therian! He had hinted that he wanted a cat mask a few months back, and then a saw the therian symbol on his bulletin board in his room today! I am unsure if I am a therian/other similar thing (I don’t know all the specifics) but I have been looking into it a little bit! I was wondering how I should approach my friend about knowing he is a therian and also that I support him! (If anyone has any advice on how to do that it would be appreciated ❤❤ )
