If you follow David's instructions , or even modify them slightly if you like,. this will prove to be very good and sturdy rifle rest. I had great luck with making one for myself about 3 years ago, after following this video three or four times so it stayed in my memory !! I built mine from soft pine and the upright shaped rest parts I made from gluing two pieces of 1 inch thick pine together, this made for a rigid holder, I am still using this rest today. Thanks very much again David, for showing me how.

That is one hell of a GREAT REST !!! The stores want so much that you almost can not justify buying one BUT NOW I can make one thanks to your video ! David, I can tell that you aren't a novice when it comes to wood working, I remember seeing a Oneway wood lathe in one of your videos on your own channel. Excellent job and great design,,,so good I stole it and made a couple for myself and a couple for friends. I changed the foam to leather on the upright stock rests, and added velcro straps to hold the rifle down more solidly. I appreciate the video,,,Oh,, I also use cabinet grade floor levelers instead of the way you showed. That's mainly because I had a bunch of them just hanging around from cabinet builds.

Well done. I'm going to copy your project for the most part but add the adjustable feet you suggested by replacing the rear door stop feet with "blind nuts' that fit a bolt on each side that could be screwed in/out to change the rear high bringing the barrel up/down as needed. Nicely done

Here is a suggestion for you.Thread two holes on the front where you put the two rubber rest on the bottom.Then use some all thread rod to screw through for the front to sit on instead of the rubber rest and you could attach those rubber rest to those rods.Then use those rods to raise or lower the front by screwing them up or down.Your shooting rest is real good and would be a class A rest with those adjustment rods.

One can make spacers for the rear support, of plastic lid / masonite in wide & length of support with holes. As the bottom plate is of two pieces. makes 2 large hole to the wing nut will fit in. so you have room for adjustments

Looks nice. I think I'll try making one for my AR-15. I'm going to have to make some kind of elevation adjustment though. Adjustable feet or modular parts of different lengths that you can just replace with screws might work.

Interesting project. I was looking for such, to install new scopes, clean and smith this and that. However, I'd used 1" thick Lucian wood for base and 3/4" on the holding pegs. I was watching your drill and noticed the chuck wobble, shaft must be bent.

You use your fingers as a brace against the side of the piece you are marking. You can also get accurate measurements without a ruler/tape measure with practice.

You should have painted the countersink part and then filled with 2 part filler.If you use poly filler on mdf ,It will eventualy fall out.Also You would have been better telling to use with coach screws.Not threaded bar.Also there is a green water proof mdf expencive and heavier .But for these sizes.You could get off cuts from building sites.The mdf that you used was the better grade in the normal mdf A great job that you have done,very nice.Enjoyed watching.ps stop using hb pencils and buy yourself H2.

What is the reason for using MDF again? I have LOT's of spare 2" x 12" and 2" x 4 " premium lumber left over after building a large 9' x 15' storage shed over the winter and wondering if I can build this same rest using it. How tall is the front rest from the table top surface exactly? Thanks

I made mine earlier today and its not adjustable. I just cut the U groove 2" deep making the Rest height 10" not counting the foam that I will attach here soon. If its to high I can cut 1" or so off the wooden table legs, lol... Or add wooden blocks easily enough. Glad I made my shooting table 2" taller than normal, this might prove to be adjustable after all, haha ...
