I have a nice little knot tying tool specifically for making rosaries that you can but on Amazon to make the barrel knots easier to tie, especially as I have limited mobility in my hands.

Thank you for sharing. What kind of cord do you use? Parachute cord?
550 para(chute)cord is originally used in suspension lines of, you guessed it, parachute. Both are available in stores that sell camping things. Both are basically made from nylon.

Very easy to follow. btw wat type of string do you use and where can we buy it?
@SirCaIIum7 жыл бұрын
We used nylon string to make the video rosary as its the most durable, last longest and when you melt the ends it never frays or unravels like some other do. I tend to often buy from www.number36twine.com because its particularly nice quality and a friend of mine now works there but Rosary army.com has a great page which has loads of different suppliers that you may find are more helpful for you. The link is here rosaryarmy.newevangelizers.com/rosary-making-info/rosary-making-supplies/ Hope that helps, you may find you could even get a good deal on amazon!

Not sure if you are following new comments, but I hope so... I would love to make these for troops / sailors but I have found it difficult (at best) to find a way to do that... Any suggestions? Another question... Have you actually had a priest bless a handmade rosary such as this? I ask because when I looked at Catholic sites (about donating rosaries) they seemed quite adamant about the structure and design of the rosary and seemed to (almost) insist the cross be a Crucifix (to include the image of Christ) rather than a simple (handmade) cross.

Hi James, I made this video at my last job, but I'm still in ministry so will do my best to answer your questions: - If you're still looking for a way to make these for sailors/troops, my best suggestion is to contact your nations army chaplaincy. The contact details for the british army chaplaincy is on this page at the bottom: www.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/feBgh8aes9i4ZJeU.htmlrmy.mod.uk/who-we-are/corps-regiments-and-units/royal-army-chaplains-department/ - As for the second question, I've never had a problem getting a priest to bless the rosaries. Certain organisations might want the rosaries to be a specific way and the crucifix is the sign of perfect love so would be better than a handmade cross but I've never had anyone complain as the cross still reminds us of Jesus' sacrifice. Hope that helps, sorry I'm a year out!

@@conniedetevis2119 For Nylon rope I'd recommend about 6 metres for a whole rosary. I'd actually recommend buying a spool/reel of string (preferably nylon) and making most of the rosary while the string is still attached to the spool. This will mean that if you have misjudged how much you need you can just unravel a bit more and it still be fine. The benefit of a spool of string instead of it being precut is that the price is excellent and you can make tones more rosaries for the same price as precut string. I tend to buy from Everlasto these days as they are the best UK nylon rope supplier I can find in the UK.

Will this work on a yarn? I hope u can answer me :))
@SirCaIIum2 жыл бұрын
It does sort of work but it is hard to seal the ends of the string as the fire burns rather than melts the string. I didn’t really find a great solution to it when I first started as I began with yarn and just normal string. Dipping the ends in wax kind of worked at prolonging the life of the rosary but the ends would fray eventually. Nylon string is definitely the best. Buy it in spools and it’s much cheaper and unless you want fancy colours, buy it from a construction store as it costs pennies compared to buying if from a craft store.

Kindly mention how many knots we have to tie in total. Write in detail. As I am a convert but doesn't have access to rossary. Thanks
@flstick1376 жыл бұрын
Sadaf Maqsood You start with 10 Hail Marys 1 Our Father repeat 4 times then 10 more Hail Marys. So now you have 50 Hail Marys with 4 Our Fathers in between. 1 center knot, 1Our Father, 3 Hail Marys, 1 Our Father. Then the cross. The arms are 3 knots wide and the body is 3 long. 66 Knot’s total. 54 in the loop, 1 center, 5 in between the cross and loop, 6 in the cross itself.

@ethanwilcox99346 жыл бұрын
GejmerKojiNeVoliIgrice This is Catholic. Orthodox do not normally pray the rosary as it is a Catholic devotion. You may be thinking of the Orthodox Prayer Rope which is also tied with knots but not in the same way as these knots are tied. Hope I helped!
