I love feminine clothes . I grew up in the 60's 70's and 80's. Everything that had a flower , flounce or shimmer was for me. I also like romantic clothing such as capes and vests. Enhancements like embroidery really sets them off.

If you don’t want to hand stitch, this is the way we’ve been taught in our fashion course. You’d attach the skirt to the lining bodice (wrong side of skirt to right side of lining) flip that into the bodice. Press your seam allowance for the outer bodice under, then top stitch that to the skirt where it just covers the previous stitches from the lining. It’ll still be an enclosed seam. Both methods work but it’s just something you can do if you’re time conscious :) Great video btw, might just have to recreate this for myself x

Hi Janelle Thankyou for the beautiful dresses you share with us and esp the tutorials like this. You make it seem easy to make. You have inspired me to go back to dream of sewing my own wardrobe pieces. Given spring is around the corner in UK (I should elreally start getting my fabrics 🤓). My only concern is with neutral colour I would need lining all the way. So would I sew the lining to the skirt piece or the bodice lining. Thanks in advance and once again inspiring us to make clothes that we feel comfortable in 🌹🌹 lots of love from Manchester ❤️❤️

Hey! Love the dress! I thought about recreating it, but got confused as to why you didn't sew the lining together with the outer piece to the skirt? wouldn't it be much easier than handstitching it at the end?

Thanks! You can sew the lining with a sewing machine straight into the skirt, but I think hand-sewing it is a lot neater as it encloses all the seams. It’s completely up to you though!

A fabric similar to the main fabric works well! I used a light-weight cotton here 😊

Lovely, just a tip: instead of quickening the whole video you can show parts that are important and cut the others. The hands movement is a bit distracting when we try to follow along what you are saying and also watching fast hand movements. Also, captions would be good or text saying what you are doing is good too.

One way is to attach the zipper before attaching the lining to the fabric you'll see on the outside, then hand stitching the lining in place along the zipper and the waistband. I did this once for a dress, and it looked so good! I hope that helped even though it may have not been the best explanation.

I think it’s a slip stitch? I’m not exactly sure what it’s called! I just kind of stitch through one fabric and then the other over and over 😂

I like your chanel as I find it very enlightening. However I see something weird. Be it far from me to be pude or ill mannered. Just I don’t know why you don’t cut the pieces lengthwise or grainline. All fabrics have a Better drop ir they are cut grainline.

That is weird because usually I do make sure to cut along the grain. Sometimes if I run out of fabric I might cheat a little though 😉
