To save a small amount of time and to reduce the number of seams, you could cut a shape from the velvet which is 2 triangles joined together at one edge. You'd then only need to sew one seam. Great video, and I only thought of that AFTER I'd cut the triangles! :o)

Hello nice nice thank you for sharing I've been asked to make a giant Santa hat for a very popular but undisclosed Decoration. What is the calculation for head circumstance to length I need it to be extra long

It would probably be best to just cut out the proper shape initially rather than two triangles, that way you only have one seam. The bottom edge should probably be slightly rounded though because just doing straight edged triangles creates kind of a pointy bit where the two meet. You can easily test this out for yourself by cutting out two little triangle pieces of paper, taping the edges together and putting it on your finger tip. Thanks for the tips Tiffany! I actually tried doing one piece initially but the top point ended up off center somehow, so I decided to use two pieces instead. This was definitely a learning experience for me...
